FAMILY ENGAGEMENTCOORDINATOR (1.0 FTE 2022-2023, pending budget approval)
The Family Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible for enhancing and strengthening home - school connections and developing opportunities for families to partner with their children’s teachers and school to ensure a sense of belonging and academic achievement. The Coordinator will work most closely with elementary school principals to determine focus areas aligned with the district’s goals and priorities guided by the Vision of the Global Citizen. The Family Engagement Coordinator will be a vital member of a district team of specialists including the Equity and Inclusion Coordinator, the English Language Learners Coordinator, and Curriculum Specialists. Together this team is focused on the implementation of culturally responsive instruction consistent with the district’s Equity Framework and the district’s vision of Deeper Learning. All FPS leaders are learners, remaining current in their knowledge of emerging educational research and effective practice. As educators, they demonstrate all aspects of CT’s Code of Professional Responsibility.

SALARY: $49,020-$106,429 dependent upon education and experience

Communication
Communicate a clear vision for family engagement that is aligned with district goals and core beliefs
Welcome families new to the Farmington Public Schools promoting and valuing diversity across family structures, cultures, languages, perspectives and values.
Maintain a family engagement website that includes news, information and resources most helpful to families, especially those new to the community
Contribute to district-wide committees to build coherence across all levels
Training and Development
Partner with district experts to develop and implement education for families on topics such as literacy learning, social emotional learning, behavior management
Assist parents in developing appropriate advocacy skills in working with community agencies, professionals and schools
Provide best practices training and recommendations to the district’s administrative council
Develop professional learning training and resources to support classroom teachers Pre-K to grade 4 in strengthening family - school partnerships
Provide classroom-based consultation in play-based learning and executive functioning
Stay abreast of current research and professional literature related to areas of responsibility
Develop and monitor goals and collect evidence of success
Participate in collaborative observation protocols to inform improvement efforts
Evaluate and recommend relevant new materials, programs, systems, software
Relationship Building
Make home visits with school teams to foster a sense of trust and belonging
Facilitate the Newcomer Induction process for supporting families with language barriers
Act as a point of contact for families who experience challenges navigating system protocols and procedures
Community Connections
Maintain a working knowledge of community resources and build liaisons with other community agencies that are family focused
Work collaboratively with school principals to provide a full system of care when families are experiencing needs beyond the typical school resources available
Contribute to a growing list of external resources that enhance experiential learning for young children
Manage Title 1 grant funds and the family / community programming requirements associated with this funding
