QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate
Master’s degree work in an area of literacy and/or mathematics, preferred
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience
Successful experience in facilitating and supporting adult learning
Successful leadership experience working with teachers at the building and/or district level
Interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, conflict management, collaboration)
RESPONSIBILITIES
An Elementary Support Coordinator will:
Collaborate and work closely with building principals, school MTSS teams and grade level teams to
create intervention learning targets, progress monitoring tools and create intervention groups
Collaborate with teachers and the building principals, school MTSS teams and grade level teams on
collection and analyzing of student data
Focus on student learning by enhancing interventionists/para’s ability to provide instruction that builds
student understanding and skills in math and literacy
Help interventionists use research based practices and district approved intervention supports and
materials to improve student learning in math and literacy and provide continuity across buildings.
Work in collaboration with teachers and building principals, determine implementation needs of
interventionist/para support
Build capacity of building-level literacy and math support staff.
Model research based instructional practices
Support teachers with identification of strategies to support IRIP goal and the overall IRIP process.
