Farmington Country Club presents an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our high-volume and fast-paced Food and Beverage Operations team as an Upscale Restaurant Bartender! Our bartenders consistently deliver high-quality service to our members and their guests in a friendly, professional manner. They are responsible for setting up bars, maintaining the refined service experience of barstool patrons, lounge table patrons, and the service bar, and breaking down bars at the end of the shift. An ideal candidate has a background in upscale dining, advanced wine & beverage knowledge, and is looking to give members and their guests fantastic, personalized service. An ideal Upscale Restaurant Bartender candidate is available Wednesday-Sunday evenings and is comfortable working both inside and outside bar areas within our Upscale Restaurant, the Blue Ridge Room.

The Blue Ridge Room is the location for an exquisite social and dining experience at Farmington. Featuring a Seafood forward menu, craft cocktails and a comprehensive wine list, The Blue Ridge Room is Farmington’s go-to outlet for our members looking to celebrate a special occasion or looking for an elevated dining experience. The four areas of the Blue Ridge Room include: The Bar, The Porch, and The Terrace and our private dining space The Wine Room. The Bar is a 21 and over area with a contemporary design and two flat screen TVs. The Porch is the main year-round dining area and the only dining area at Farmington where reservations are taken. The Terrace is the “member favorite” area of the dining room as it provides a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a great atmosphere for a cocktail or dinner from Spring through Fall seasons.

Operation Hours: (Dependent on season)

    • Bar (Beverage Service and Bar Menu): Wednesday-Sunday 3pm-Close
    • Restaurant: Wednesday-Sunday 5:30pm-9:00pm

*The Blue Ridge Room is closed January 1st-February 13th. There are other opportunities for full-time employees to make hours during the restaurant closure, but the Blue Ridge Room is closed during that time. In parts of the ‘shoulder’ season (February-March and November-December), the Blue Ridge Room is open Thursday-Sunday.

Pay:

The Upscale Restaurant Bartender makes $8.50/hourly base pay. All checks in the restaurant have an automatic 20% gratuity and members have the option to give an additional tip. When there is more than one bartender working, tips are tip pooled between bartenders. Qualifications


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current knowledge of beer, wine, liquor and specialty cocktail offerings.
  • Follow all checklists for set-up and clean-up bar duties.
  • Prepare all drink orders ordered by service staff for members and guests.
  • At end of shift, return all alcohol to proper location, putting away beverages and rotating stock and inventory as needed.
  • Secure all alcohol under lock & key.
  • Maintain neat, orderly and clean beverage storage areas.
  • Notify restaurant managers about member and guest feedback.
  • Notify restaurant managers about supply and inventory requirements.
  • Display creativity with cocktail ideas and promotions.
  • Assist with monthly inventory and other inventory as needed.
  • Assist service staff with general clean up when break-down of bar is complete.
  • Complete a requisition at the end of each shift for items needed for the next shift.
  • Verify name and account number for every chit and enter information into Point-of-Sales system accurately.
  • Card anyone ordering alcohol that looks to be under the age of 30.
  • Adhere to Virginia ABC Laws.
  • Completing TIPS training within one month of hire.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Previous bartending experience highly preferred.
  • Advanced wine & beverage knowledge preferred.
  • Must be available Wednesday-Sunday evenings.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • High level of professionalism is required.
