Description

This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory requirements of permits and action items associated with environmental compliance for crushed stone, and sand & gravel operations. Provide technical assistance and represent company environmental interests to management, employees, governmental/regulatory personnel, and others on matters regarding compliance, permitting, and reporting. Research, analyze, and prepare information that may include, but is not limited to air/water/land reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Coast Guard regulations, codes, and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Completion of environmental permit applications including air, water, surface mining, local land use, and vessel general permits permitting. This includes the preparation of all necessary maps, flow sheets, and reclamation plans, and completing the required forms.

  • Completion of USACE permit applications for dredging and construction permits. This includes preparation of all necessary maps and flow sheets, and completing the required forms.
  • Assist in Vessel Compliance and obtaining COI (Certificate of Inspections), employee training & documentation of training, and other parts of Subchapter M required by USCG.
  • Assist with document control of required USCG and internal SMS.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory compliance reports by submittal timelines.
  • Research government agency rules and regulations for permit acquisition and renewals.
  • Assist with the development of Environmental Control Plans to comply with environmental laws, regulations, and permit conditions.
  • Assist with conducting environmental audits, reporting on environmental deficiencies, and recommending strategies to comply with environmental regulations.
  • Provide environmental assistance to the entire division to also include Senior Management and other departments with interpretation of environmental regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation and planning of corrective actions to satisfy environmental requirements or orders.
  • Keeping updated on new environmental regulations and developing compliance programs to ensure we stay in compliance.
  • Assist with developing, planning, and programming all the activities involved in identifying and alleviating environmental compliance or risk issues.
  • Assist with the preparation, planning, and assist with presentation of environmental training of Operations personnel in areas of expertise
  • Any other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Four-year degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related experience in closely related settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Familiarity with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD a plus.
