COMPENSATION:
$51,790.00 to $134,417.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

The Rural 1st Mortgage Underwriter serves the Association's internal and external customers by analyzing and processing loan requests, loan servicing requests, and other credit services. Provides analysis of loan applications for new or renewed loans, pre-approved lines of credit and loan servicing. Approves or denies loans within delegated authority, makes recommendations for loans exceeding authority, and establishes appropriate loan terms to manage loan risk. Participates in the ongoing design of processes to provide exceptional service, achieve satisfactory credit administration goals, and achieve targeted credit quality while providing adequate compensation for risk.

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Works in conjunction with sales staff and alliance partners to understand customer goals, financial information, credit strengths and weaknesses, and deliver “value added” constructive lending that will assist our customers and prospective customers.
  • Works with sales staff and alliance partners to design innovative credit packages to meet customer needs while maintaining high credit standards of the Association.
  • Explain loan decisions to sales team members and alliance partners in a way that they can effectively communicate and serve the customer.
  • Analyzes loans originated by sales staff and alliance partners. Provides prompt turnaround on loan decisions incorporating sound credit on the loan structure, terms, pricing, and documentation.
  • Analyzes loans for loan servicing request requiring credit decisions. Provides ongoing credit analysis to identify loans that expose the Association to risk.
  • As an important resource to our customers and the sales staff/alliance partners, the Rural 1st Mortgage Underwriter will build his/her expertise in the areas of agriculture, residential, credit, finance, technology and the needs of the unit’s market segment.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all specialized programs and utilizes the programs as necessary in the administration of credit.
  • Serves as a credit resource, and coaches others in the association.
  • Recommends, implements, and administers regulations, policies, and procedures in relation to credit and operation objectives.

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business or related field OR one year of financial analysis experience.
