Position Overview:
This position assists internal and external clients by providing external financial reporting, internal controls over financial reporting, external audit and accounting services. The incumbent receives reporting, audit and accounting requests and in response, uses appropriate procedures and accounting principles to coordinate information gathering, prepare analyses, and create reports, controls, and accounting entries. Serves as a knowledge and technical resource to other team members.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates annual and quarterly shareholder reporting by being a liaison for AgriBank information requests, fielding questions, reviewing draft reports, managing updates and changes, answering ELT & Audit Committee questions, providing feedback, and preparing and maintaining documentation, analytics, and controls.
Coordinates, reviews and prepares information and calculations for the issuance of quarterly FCA call reports.
Researches GAAP reporting questions/issues, and drafts memos on resulting decisions/positions to be provided to auditors and maintained in accounting files.
Creates, develops and maintains accurate, consistent and timely reporting (routine, new and ad-hoc reports) by extracting information from various applications and systems, manipulating data and developing user friendly final outputs based on the business needs.
Leads collaborations between the ICFR design team, business owners, and auditors to brainstorm, design, troubleshoot, document, and implement new controls where design deficiencies exist, as requested.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance , accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum of 7 years of accounting, auditing, and/or external financial reporting or related experience.
CPA, required.
Advanced knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices; current industry standards and practices.
Advanced level knowledge regarding GAAP and financial reporting applications.
Knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and Farm Credit.
Advanced understanding of key and non-key internal controls.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
Strong presentation s kills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong computer and data query skills, including MS Office applications, data fluency, financial reporting systems, and general ledger applications.
Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
Ability to remain objective in balancing business needs and risk.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
Valid driver's license.
