Us:

Boutique litigation firm (6 attorneys) located in midtown Manhattan (near Grand Central Stn.), seeks a senior-level associate to primarily work in our litigation department and assist with drafting, research, court appearances, discovery and related items (7 years experience). We mainly represent business and real estate owner entities and individuals in New York litigation (state and federal practice) across various commercial and non-commercial subject matter. We also have a hospitality practice (transactional and SLA licensure work) and act as outside general counsel to start-ups, artists and fashion designers, counseling in miscellaneous contract and intellectual property matters.

You:

You have around 7 years litigation experience, a firm knowledge and grasp of general civil procedure (ideally both the Federal Rules and the CPLR, but certainly the CPLR) and can run with a casefile from intake and pleadings through discovery and pre-trial litigation. You write clearly and concisely. In addition to relevant subject matter experience, you possess the know-how to deep-dive new material and synthesize information quickly. You are a fast learner and are ready, willing and able to research and grasp new practice areas and subject matter that you may not have encountered previously, you are comfortable making all pertinent inquiries, digesting independent research and asking questions based on a generally proactive skill set. You are a self-starter, have a strong work ethic, are timely and responsive, responsible and require little supervision. It is a plus if you have insurance defense experience or have worked with issues surrounding RPAPL 881. We offer health insurance and reward both business generation and billing milestones. Salary: $130,000-$160,000 dependent on experience.

Duties:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and briefs
- Assist with case management and preparation for hearings, trials, and depositions
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in legal matters
- Attend court proceedings and represent clients in litigation matters when necessary
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients
- Conduct negotiations on behalf of client

Experience:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York Bar
- Prior experience working as an associate attorney or in a similar legal role preferred
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in legal drafting and writing
- Ability to litigate cases effectively
- Familiarity with legal administrative procedures and practices
- Knowledge of legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
