Description

The Gymnastic Coach's role is to supervise and instruct gymnastics program participants in alignment with the YMCA mission of building a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. 

• Attend all required staff trainings, special events and meetings.
• Take attendance.
• Collect program participant evaluations toward the end of each session when asked.
• Follow all discipline procedures and general rules and guidelines for working with young people. Ensure all program participants adhere to these rules.
• Severe and persistent behavior problems should be reported to the Gymnastics and Arts Director.
• Provide quality gymnastics, dance and tumble (as qualified) instruction under the supervision of gymnastics management staff.
• Follow all risk management and emergency procedures. Administer first aid within the bounds of current certification as needed. Fill out accident/incident reports and submit immediately to the Gymnastics Director.
• Serve as a positive role model and leader for all program participants.
• Communicate clearly in a respectful and caring manner with all program participants, co-workers and supervisors. Give feedback to participants and the parents on a regular basis.
• Assist in clean up at the end of each day, including props.
• Attend meets and special events as scheduled.
• Read and implement the gymnastics policies and procedures handout, which outlines dress code, time off procedures, etc.

Requirements

• Minimum 16 years of age.
• Experience supervising and working with children.
• Experience working with compulsory levels and/or optional.
• YMCA Gymnastics Instructor or USAG PDP1 Certification preferred.
• USAG Safety Certification required (will train).
• Obtain/maintain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to spot and teach skills and progressions for team levels as well as create lesson plans.
• Must be responsible and have strong leadership qualities.
