Job Summary:
The Human Resource Specialist will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organizations human resource department.
Essential Duties:
  • Performs reference checks both electronically and by phone.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • Serves on the Wellbeing and Employee Engagement Committee as the Human Resources Representative.
Other Duties as Needed:
  • Back up support for Front Desk
  • Assumes other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Experience:
Prior related office experience preferred.

  • Make accurate mathematical calculations
  • Effectively use technology in daily work, including email, spreadsheets, and databases
Knowledge of:
  • Administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
Skills:
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong customer service skills including the ability to exercise discretion in determining the importance and urgency of telephone messages, correspondence and inquiries from the public external agencies, and employees at all levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
  • Strong follow-up and follow through
  • Strong organizational and time management
  • Detail Orientated
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
Valid drivers license.
Other Requirements:
  • Clear a Level II background screening
  • Clear a reference check.
  • Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
  • Clear a substance abuse screen
  • Provide a copy of all degrees prior to your first day of employment
  • Clear an E-Verify check to substantiate that the successful candidate meets the Department of Homeland Security authorization requirements to work in the United States (for more information visit www.dhs.gov/e-verify)
Schedule & Hours
Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm.
