Family Service Association of Sheboygan is Hiring a Nonprofit Executive Director Near Sheboygan, WI

At Family Service Association of Sheboygan, Inc. (FSA), including Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) and the Advocacy Programs of Family Service Association (ADVO), the mission of our collective non-profit organizations since 1912 has been to help individuals and families in our Wisconsin and Minnesota communities achieve financial stability to improve their quality of life. Financial stress can make you feel alone, but through our education, counseling, debt management services, and advocacy programs, we will walk with our clients on the path to financial stability.

We are seeking a highly motivated Executive Director to lead our team who is highly adaptable to change, committed to growing the visibility of our association, and who believes in our mission of improving the lives of our clients and their communities.

As Executive Director, you will report to our Board of Directors. You will have approximately 4 direct reports and all other staff as indirect reports, which includes a team of approximately 30 full and part-time team members.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, social work, or equivalent
  • At least two years’ business or agency experience in a leadership role.
  • An understanding of economic and credit systems, bondable with supervisory skills.
  • Previous accounting responsibility and solid understanding of non-profit GAAP principles and basic non-profit accounting functions strongly preferred.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Must possess and exhibit high integrity, a positive attitude.

Essential Functions, which include operations of both agencies:

  • Supervise the day-to-day administration and operation of the agencies.
  • Explore, formulate, and recommend new areas of need in the community.
  • Renew agency licenses, insurance policies, and bonds in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare annual budgets for Board approval.
  • Oversee financial affairs of the organization.
  • Research and apply for grants that align with the agency’s mission and strategic initiatives.
  • Approve and edit social media content and prepare press releases as needed to highlight agency events, programs and services.
  • Implement COA, State Laws, and NFCC requirements.
  • Interview candidates for employment and make hiring and firing decisions for staff .
  • Evaluate each employee’s consistency with the agency policy manual.
  • Supervise employees and hold regular staff meetings.
  • Provide evaluations and additional training to staff.
  • Serve as public relations representative in the community. This includes attending meetings of and concerning Family Service Association in the community and interpreting the agency through speeches to groups and public appearances on radio, TV and at schools.
  • Keep the Board of Directors aware of FSA operations.
  • Prepare activity reports for all board meetings.
  • Prepare necessary reports for Committee use.
  • Make recommendations to the Board on all matters concerning agency operations.
  • Serve as Secretary for all Board meetings.
  • All other duties delegated by the Board, By-Laws, or Policies of FSA.

Work Location:

  • Primary Location: 1930 N 8th St. Sheboygan, WI 53081
  • Additional periodic travel to satellite offices or seminar or meeting locations, less than 10%

More about FSA, CCCS, and ADVO:

We are affiliated with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) and accredited through the Council of Accreditation. We are licensed, bonded and regulated by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions and the Minnesota Department of Commerce. We are a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved counseling agency and approved by the Executive Office of the United States Trustees to provide bankruptcy counseling and education programs. We are a United Way Agency. We also provide representative payee services for both private-pay and court-directed clients. Our NFCC Certified Consumer Credit Counselors are required to take ongoing continuing education classes and attend regular training. In addition, our counseling staff have certifications in housing counseling, student loan counseling, foreclosure prevention, and loss mitigation.
