Job Summary
Our successful and growing animal hospital is committed to hiring full time Veterinary Aides to join our animal-loving team. We are seeking to establish a long-term relationship with individuals that are strongly committed to a career in the veterinary field. We see patients during regular daytime hours of 7:30am to 5:45pm during the week. The ideal candidate would have strong teamwork ethics, fit in well with our current team culture and be willing to work any available shift within these hours as needed. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with all breeds of cats and dogs. This is our entry-level position, with the expectation that the individual has a personal commitment to becoming a veterinary assistant and hopefully the even larger goal of becoming a certified veterinary technician. The starting wage for our entry-level aide position is between $12.00 and $14.00 per hour. Our training program allows for base wage increase opportunities on a bi-weekly basis and the opportunity to grow and learn to positions with greater responsibilities. An ideal candidate is one who envisions progressing beyond this entry level and gaining experience
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide assistance to our Customer Service Managers, Veterinary Assistants, Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians
Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room
Take pets’ weight and other vital signs upon arrival
Provide patient restraint during procedures and examinations
Feed, bathe and care for patients
Provide assistance during radiology procedures
Clean and maintain the surgical room in preparation for procedures
Prepare instruments and medications as directed by veterinary personnel
Calm and soothe anxious patients
Adhere to hospital’s safety and wellness regulations
Educate clients about our services and treatments
Assist with Customer Service needs
Enter history into the computer data software
Prepare vaccinations and medications
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma/GED required
2 years’ experience working with animals
Comfortable around cats and dogs required
Experience with animal restraint a plus
Takes direction and correction from others easily and graciously
High math aptitude
Good communication skills
Organization skills
High aptitude with software data entry
Customer Service skills

Our starting wage for our Veterinary Aide position is $12.00-$14.00 per hour. Previous experience in customer service including answering phones would influence the starting wage. Our training program allows for base wage increase opportunities on a bi-weekly basis and the opportunity to grow and learn to positions with greater responsibilities. We also provide a complete training resource package to enable you to become a certified veterinary assistant. Completing this full course would require extra commitment outside of employed hours.
