**Job Summary:**
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) Overnights full-time position based in Watertown, CT is responsible for providing habilitative assistance and care to clients living in various Agency programs. The role involves supervising and assisting clients in their daily living activities, developing individualized plans for each client, monitoring client progress, and collaborating with other staff and agencies. Additionally, the DSP Overnights will be responsible for record keeping and ensuring the safety and well-being of the clients.
**Responsibilities:**
- Supervise clients at all times, ensuring their safety and knowing their status and location.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized plans for each client.
- Teach, supervise, and assist clients in performing adult daily living activities.
- Monitor client progress on goals and report any incidents of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment.
- Complete incident reports and medication error reports.
- Implement approved behavioral plans, including emergency restraints and procedures if necessary.
- Implement therapist recommendations and programs, such as positioning and sensory stimulation.
- Develop and implement recreation and community participation activities.
- Collaborate with other staff, families, schools, and agencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely record keeping of services provided and goals identified in each client's plan.
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and trainings.
- Administer medications, provide routine healthcare, and first aid to clients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of program sites and transportation vehicles.
- Transport clients to and from designated activities and programs.
- Conduct and participate in emergency drills.
- Maintain medication certification and accurately manage petty cash and client cash on hand accounts.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Program Director or Assistant.
**Qualifications:**
- Successful completion of the Medication Certification Program.
- Successful completion of PMT (Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior), CPR, and First Aid training programs.
- Valid CT driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or behavioral challenges preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Skills:**
- Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence in English.
- Basic mathematical skills to perform calculations.
- Strong reasoning ability to follow instructions and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects, and lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to adjust focus and have close vision for accurate observation.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively and respectfully with clients, staff, and external stakeholders.
**Work Environment:**
The work environment is moderate in noise level and may involve traveling by automobile, exposing employees to changing weather conditions.
