Family House is Hiring a House Person Near Pittsburgh, PA

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Houseperson is responsible for upholding the standard of excellence for House Operations and Guest Services. They plays a vital role in the overall success of our organization by creating a clean and safe environment for our guests. The Houseperson will often have the opportunity to interact with the guests. Duties include main floor common spaces, cleaning carpets, hard floor surfaces, stairwells; conference spaces set up and tear down, moving laundry, backup to housekeeping and laundry team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily cleaning and sanitizing of common areas including lobbies, corridors, stairwells, elevators, restrooms, kitchens, board rooms and offices.
  • Stock daily supplies in common areas
  • Clean rugs, carpet, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers
  • Maintain floor surfaces using appropriate floor care equipment
  • Transport trash and waste to disposal areas
  • Collect soiled laundry
  • Carry linens, towels, toilet items and cleaning supplies to each floors housekeeping area
  • Move clean linens to each floor linen area, if Laundry attendants are busy.
  • Clean floor first floor kitchen refrigerators and dispose of spoiled of outdated food
  • Front/Back porch/Smoking area sweeping
  • Entrance maintenance
  • Clean stovetops, ovens, freezers and refrigerators in First Floor kitchen
  • Replace burned out light fixtures on main floor
  • Reports defects in room finishes, fixtures, furniture or appliances or any hazard to the supervisor
  • Observe precautions to protect guest property and report damage, theft and found articles to supervisor
  • Interact professionally with staff and guests
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team member
  • Complete work in a prompt responsive time frame
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
  • Must be responsible for keeping time sheet and observing house and department policies and guidelines

House Operations and Emergency Procedures

  • Consults with Director of Housekeeping on any issues that arise.
  • Gives attention to and reports any safety concerns in physical facility and surrounding property.
  • Evaluates maintenance issues and reports them through the TELS systems or to the Director of Housekeeping immediately, depending on the severity of the situation.
  • Completes annual training and shows proficiency to take care and direct during emergency situations for guest/volunteer safety and well-being; executes emergency procedures effectively and compassionately.
  • Prepares a brief report of shift activities/ check list
  • Documents unusual occurrences or guest behavior on an Incident Report after consulting with the Housekeeping Manager.

Physical and Other Requirements

  • The Family House operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and associates may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
  • Clock in and out for Lunch
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and a minimum of three/four holidays as needed,
  • Employee will be required to see, hear and use hands and fingers.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, carry, kneel, stretch, and stoop.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outside in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to a variety of chemicals & cleaning agents on a regular basis.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to relate to people in periods of stress in an open and compassionate manner.
  • Capable of defusing situations and perceiving and solving problems before they become crises.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with people of varying backgrounds including coworkers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to enforce policies and procedures while understanding some situations require a compassionate and flexible response.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; attention to detailed record keeping required.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively oversee staff, volunteers, housekeepers, and maintenance to ensure an outstanding guest experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems.

KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of previous work experience in business, hospitality industry or customer service preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, navigating browsers; ability to learn and efficiently use organization-specific software.
