The Dental Support Technician is responsible for assisting the dental care team in providing essential high-quality cleaning, sterilization and disinfection of care equipment. This PRN “As needed” position is designed for students of a Dental Assisting or Dental Hygiene program, to allow for practical experience while attending their program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To perform high-quality cleaning procedures, while working in a safe and effective manner
• To ensure that all areas of the dental practice are regularly cleaned
• Disinfection of dental operatory
• Transportation of dirty instruments
• Practices proper waste management techniques, disposal of sharps, biohazard, general garbage,
• Stocking rooms and storage areas
• Unloading and unpacking supply deliveries/shipments
• Assisting Dental Hygienist
• Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Other duties as assigned

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

• Must have high school diploma, or GED
• Experience in custodial services is preferred, but not required.
