The Behavioral Health Department comprises the Outpatient clinic, Project Reward, MST, and IICAPS. Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive, in-home, community-based treatment for adolescents with antisocial and/or delinquent behaviors. It is family driven with primary focus on empowering caregivers to better manage current challenges and prevent future challenges. Families are full collaborators in the treatment process and delivery is focused on the parents as the long-term agents of change. MST works within the network of systems including: family, peers, school, and neighborhood. Drug testing is completed at intake and throughout treatment as indicated by the model.
MST serves children between the ages of 12 and 17 and all referrals are made through the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) or the Court Support Services Division (CSSD) of the Judicial Branch.
The MST Clinician has direct responsibility for clinical services and supports provided to families referred to the MST program. The Community Based Therapist is responsible for implementing interventions to decrease substance use, increase prosocial and interpersonal connections, improve school attendance and performance, and improve overall family functioning.
