Falvey Insurance Group is Hiring a Business Support Analyst Near North, RI

Summary Of PositionFalvey insurance Group is one of the largest Marine Insurance MGAs in the country and was founded on the pillars of Technology and Operational Excellence. The Business Analyst role is critical to the expanding strategy of the group as the position is expected to leverage problem-solving, communication, and process design to advance industry leading, in-house software systems.
The position involves acting as an advocate, point of contact, and internal consultant for their assigned departments: Market Operations, Marketing, Legal & Compliance, People Operations
The Business Support Analyst will be expected to establish a deep understanding of the processes and personnel of these assigned departments and become “embedded” within the teams. From a position of shared understanding, the Analyst can design solutions to day-to-day problems, identify areas for process improvements, and advocate for their teams throughout the organization (Software Development, Data Analytics, Marketing, etc.).
Position FunctionsThe role will have the following main responsibilities:
  • Supporting the efficiency of proprietary internal systems through:
    • Intaking issue submissions (bugs, questions, feature requests, etc.) from assigned departments and clarifying the Problem, Impact, and Potential Solutions
    • Following prioritization and process guidelines to determine a solution path
    • Writing Change Requests for internal software development team
    • Communicating updates and status on individual problems
  • Maintaining an ongoing understanding of assigned departments' goals, priorities, concerns, and daily processes
  • Conducting Process identification, documentation, and suggesting operational improvements
  • Participating in and coordinating the User Acceptance Testing phase for system updates that impact assigned departments
  • Running weekly check-ins with assigned departments to communicate statuses and confirm priorities
  • Participating in the design of large-scale strategic projects that impact assigned departments
  • Secondary responsibilities include:
    • Using Business Intelligence platforms to review department KPI's and data integrity
    • Evaluating project requests in terms of business goals and objectives
Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesStrong desire to establish relationships and understand the goals, concerns, and objectives of stakeholders throughout the business
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to contextually switch between technical and plain language. Experience creating process flows, wireframes, decision trees, other methods of effective visual communication.
Excellent comprehension skills to efficiently develop a connected understanding of business processes and goals. This includes learning via informal conversations with company leaders, completed projects, end user interviews, and individual experimentation/replication of issues.
Problem solving skills are necessary for this position, as numerous complex scenarios will be directed to the candidate on a daily basis. We are looking for an individual who enjoys getting to the bottom of complex problems and ultimately coming up with effective solutions.

There are many routes to being successful within this role and a candidate is not expected to have all of these characteristics. There will be ample time for on the job training and learning. In essence, we are looking for a person who is interested in a dynamic role and cultivating a generalist skillset.
Other RequirementsBachelor's degree is required. Additional business work experience is preferred.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, lift heavy file boxes, and answer and communicate on a telephone.

Working ConditionsBusiness-casual fast paced multi-tasking office environment.
Hours of Operation: This position works Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 5 days per week. Falvey has a hybrid work plan, and this position is expected to be in the Rhode Island office Tuesday-Thursday. This position requires and allows for flexibility working additional hours to accomplish project objectives.
