Fairfield County Ohio is Hiring a Juvenile Detention Officer Near Liberty, OH

JOB
Under direction of the Shift Manager, maintains basic discipline and control of residents; ensures the safety and security of detention residents; performs other duties as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Conducts room checks on residents every 15 minutes and/or as directedObserves residents in isolationWakes residents and supervises during showering and other activitiesOversees residents as they perform housekeeping or other tasksAssists in serving mealsEnsures residents follow facility policies and proceduresEnforces behavior management systemUnder supervision, issues warnings and disciplinary measures, as necessaryPerforms intake procedures for residents entering the facility (completes required forms; conducts searches; orients residents to the facility; issues clothing and linen; enters data in OJDYS system or other systems as required)Operates control room and maintains security of the facility (ensures doors are locked; monitors resident’s activities by observation and closed-circuit television system; operates control panel, to include but not limited to, opening doors; operating intercom system; screen incoming telephone calls)Prepares observation reports reflecting attitudes and behavior of residentsMaintains logs regarding medication, incidents, incoming and outgoing telephone callChecks logs daily to identify problems documented from other shifts and keeps supervisor informed of problems identifiedReceives and discharges all residents in DetentionPatrols housing areas on scheduled and impromptu basisMoves residents from various locations within and outside the facilityTakes toxicology specimens as requested or authorizedAll other duties as assigned
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Works a 12-hour shift, day shift, night shift, holidays, overtime. Accepts mandatory overtime as described in the mandation protocol. May be required to drive in adverse weather conditions; must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds; may be exposed to violent youths or youths under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs; may be exposed to blood or other bodily fluids; may be required to intervene in fights; may be exposed to contagious or communicable diseases.
