Tysons Towers Apartments, a fast-paced senior affordable housing apartment community in Tysons Corner, VA is seeking a Recertification Specialist to join our team. The Recertification Specialist is expected to know and reference HUD regulation regarding Section 8 and RAD Programs. The preferred candidate will have their COS, and knowledge of the Yardi software system along with other IT systems.

 Responsibilities: 

  • Process Initial, Annual, and Interim recertification's for 274 units in a timely manner. 
  • Calculate rents for annual and interim recertification.
  • Meet with residents to identify households with income reporting discrepancies and make rent-adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all HUD, Tax Credit and/or other regulatory requirements related to the property's funding sources.
  • Utilizing EIV and correcting discrepancies.
  • Maintain resident files according to compliance standards.
  • Manage workload, ensure all re-certifications are completed in timely manner.
  • Review monthly recertification list with supervisor to ensure timely completions.
  • Ensure detailed notes are place in the computer system and resident files. 
  • Effectively maintain the waiting list
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of Project Based Section 8 and LIHTC
  • Must have knowledge of HUD/Public Housing/Tax Credit policies and procedures
  • Experience working in senior living establishments preferred
  • Detail oriented and the ability to operate on a deadline driven schedule
  • Possess strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • COS certification, preferred
  • TCS certification, preferred
  • Have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Knowledge of Yardi, evaluate Background Checks, Social Media, and other IT systems that promote knowledge and upgrades to the standards in the industry.

  • Must be able to exercise a great deal of discretion, work independently or with little oversight and use independent judgement. 
  • Possess knowledge of general office policies and administrative procedures and practices.
  • Ability to efficiently handle and coordinate multiple tasks and project assignments 
  • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize 
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness 
  • Excellent organizational skills. 
  • Adaptability 
  • Pro-active 

Other 

Physical abilities/Working Conditions:  

  • Physical ability to operate a telephone, computer, sit for extended periods of time and occasionally lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
