FairCom is Hiring a Software Technical Writer (Missouri Office) Near Columbia, MO

Description

As an expert in simplifying the complicated and organizing the chaotic, the Technical Writer will use their software knowledge and passion for writing to create, edit, format, and illustrate high-quality end-user documentation internally & externally for all FairCom products and solutions. In this role, you will be the main editor and publisher in our CCMS, Paligo, and your authorship will directly benefit the worldwide engineering community by delivering documentation for the next generation of database APIs and data processing technology via FairCom DB, FairCom EDGE, c-treeRTG, and FairCom’s other products.

Essential Job Functions

  • Review, edit, and proofread materials written by developers and technical leadership
  • Fix grammar, readability, and style
  • Ensure content is clear & concise to developers and support engineers
  • Organize content to be useful for developers and support engineers
  • Revise and improve published materials and current content.
  • Publish a variety of technical guides including tutorials, how-to’s, references, administration, etc.
  • Effectively manage the Component Content Management System, Paligo, to enable re-use of content
  • Collaborate with technical leadership, QA engineers, and developers
  • Quickly learn the technical aspects and maintain an in-depth knowledge of FairCom’s products and services

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, and/or Communications OR applicable professional experience
  • 3 years of experience in writing documentation and procedural materials for technical audiences
  • Experience with Content Management and Publishing systems
  • Professional proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Superior written communication skills with a keen eye for detail

Position Preferences

  • Experience using an XML authoring tool.
  • 1 years of experience writing documentation for DBMS environment
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL Databases
  • Experience with Software Development or Software QA
  • Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators
