FABco is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic HSE professional to join our team in the Austin area. This person will be responsible for providing HSE support to Furnish and Install division management and serve as a business partner working with regional operational counterparts in leading HSE excellence and supporting HSE program development and implementation specific to our field locations. Must be flexible and must be able to travel to job site locations on short notice. Must have a reliable mode of transportation (car allowance provided) and valid driver's license.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Review project and contractor safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations and corporate/client safety standards.
· Survey project sites/facilities to evaluate safety practices to ensure that hazards are assessed; and that practical measures to eliminate, minimize, or control risk to workers are developed.
· Verify that site/facility specific plans remain current and amended when project personnel, activities or conditions change.
· Verify adherence with the requirements of site/facility specific plans and applicability of subcontractors’ health and safety plans.
· Assist with incident reporting and investigations, provide recommendations for corrective/preventive actions, and ensure that incident reports, investigations and corrective/preventive actions are completed according to company/client requirements.
· Interface with project and subcontractor SSHOs and safety professionals to communicate, direct and improve effectiveness of corporate and project safety standards.
· Coordinate the entrance and exit of medical physical requirements, if required; assign levels of personal protective equipment and safety procedures; and determine protection level upgrades and downgrades as site conditions permit.
· Oversee the maintenance and use of field monitoring equipment necessary to define on-site hazards.
· Assist in conducting occupational exposure monitoring for employees.
· Track training requirements for employees and ensure proper level of training for subcontractors.
· Develop and deliver site/facility specific safety training and orientation to employees, as needed.
· Develop and distribute weekly safety topics for toolbox meetings.
· Routinely develop and deliver safety moments for discussion.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Skill in oral and written communication. Spanish is a must!
· Working knowledge of federal safety regulations related to the construction industry (29 CFR 1910 and 1926 OSHA regulations).
· Proficient in development of AHAs, JSA’s, etc.
· Proficient in operating sampling and testing equipment (Air, noise, hazardous chemicals)
· Skill in identifying and resolving safety hazards in a construction environment.
· Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers and representatives from other local, state and federal agencies.
· Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
· Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals with wide array of cultural, political, educational, socio-economic, geographic and linguistic backgrounds.
· Skill in addressing sensitive issues and situations.
· 5 years documented experience with construction projects in the safety and health field.
· Current OSHA 30 with card available.
· Must have reliable transportation.
· Must be able to walk and climb for up to 8 hrs a day.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
