REPORTS TO: Director of Expanded Learning and Site Director


Position Summary

The Summer Operations Coordinator (O.C.) is responsible for the overall systems and structures that make camp run smoothly for students and staff. The Operations Coordinator works directly with the Site Director to ensure their operations vision is reached. Their duties include managing food and attendance systems, managing parent communication (field trips, student illness, etc.), and overseeing lunch and recess, and managing field trip forms. Other responsibilities as needed to ensure a fun, safe experience for all students and staff


About Education for Change Public Schools

Founded in 2005, Education forChange (EFC) is a charter management organization that was created as a partnership between Oakland Unified School District and the education reform community in order to leverage the flexibilities in charter law to facilitate greater innovation and to address the underperformance of our most vulnerable student populations. EFC is Oakland’s largest charter operator, serving over 2,700 students in the Fruitvale and Elmhurst neighborhoods of East Oakland. Five of six of our schools were formerly OUSD schools that converted to EFC to leverage the flexibility and agility provided by charter law for greater outcomes for our students.


Job Responsibilities

  • Own and develop management systems for arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal and physical space on campus
  • Ensuring joy and safety exude in all systems!
  • Manage the physical space of the building and all facilities-related needs
  • Manage and support interns.
  • Manage food service operations, including serving as the main contact with meal vendor and ensuring compliance
  • Serve as the main owner of school safety processes and compliance, including administering training and running safety drills
  • Partner with the Site Director to respond to emergencies
  • Be a collaborative and supportive partner on your school’s leadership team and the national Business Operations Manager team
  • Engage with parents on operational topics, demonstrating a clear customer service mindset that honors and engages our students’ families
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate with both adults and children
  • Other tasks as assigned


About You

  • Experience in and a desire to support students in improving their skills and interest enrichment subjects.
  • Experience working with elementary-age students required.
  • Experience working with diverse families and communities required.
  • Commitment of work the entirety of the summer program.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary to work with
  • children, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in students.
  • Ability to manage up to 20 students in a safe, respectful environment.
  • Open to gaining new knowledge and skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 20 lbs.


Requirements:

Department of Justice clearance based on fingerprinting submission.

  • Proof of TB test within the last four years.


Work Schedule

40 hours, 5 days/week.

Work Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm.

Summer Start Date: June 11, 2024 (Staff training week is full time 8:00-4:30 pm)

Last Program Date: July 19, 2024
