Express Mart is Hiring a Co-Manager Near Waterloo, NY

To assist in managing the everyday operations and activities of a company operated branded gasoline
station and Express Mart convenience store in accordance with Petr-All Petroleum Corporation marketing
policies, promotions and achievements of a well trained, courteous and customer oriented staff in a safe
and clean environment practicing TQM, friendly serve and established performance measures for revenue
enhancement, cost and budget controls and reductions and increased profitability of your establishment.
A. Be able to perform all responsibilities and requirements as specified in the sales associate job
description.
B. Enthusiastic attitude for Total Quality Management and "friendly serve."
C. Flexibility to accommodate sudden schedule changes and availability to be on call 24 hours a day,
if an emergency arises.
D. Good communication skills.
E. Ability to work with and motivate employees to achieve the best buying experience and business
climate for our customers and our employees.
F. Be able to achieve performance standards as required with respect to: store computer, POS
machines, cash registers, equipment and particular systems in operation at the location.
G. Be able to work effectively in the general physical environment or surroundings under which the job
must be performed.
H. Personality Requirements: Trustworthiness, good judgment, discretion, cooperativeness, initiative,
creativity, service-oriented.
I. Be able to meet the physical demands such as walking, stopping, lifting, handling boxes, talking,
seeing, etc. including the amount of physical effort to perform each task as well as the length of
time during which the effort must expend both in duration and frequency.
J. A high school diploma with some college preferred, or experience in retail and management.
K. Hazards associated with each task: Must have the mental and physical qualification required to
perform the work safety, occupational safety and health issues, including exposure to gasoline
fumes, cleaning products and other similar hazards.
L. Must be able and willing to assume all managerial responsibilities up to company standards of a
gas station or convenience store without notice.
M. Candidate should have prior retail experience preferably through an understanding and working knowledge of the operation and marketing of a Petr-All station or convenience store.
To co-manage a corporate facility with the manager or perform in manager's absence the following:
A. Render the best buying experience to the motoring public, through a well-trained staff, friendly service,
safe and clean facilities, TQM and product availability.
B. Hire and train all employees. Ensure a competent work force through the hiring, careful recruitment,
upgrading, selection, training, development and evaluation of personnel. Discipline and terminate when
necessary.
C. Practice leadership and encourage teamwork among all employees in order to achieve the highest
performance standards for all of our customers and employees.
D. Practice and implement all safe and clean initiatives as outlined in the company safe and clean manual.
E. Complete daily and monthly paperwork and computer requirements (pricing, payroll, invoices, sales,
monthly cash and inventory control, maintenance review, underground inventory water checks, market
surveys, competitive reports, projects, NAVCO, ATM, money orders, moneygrams and credit card
procedures), in order to ensure compliance with company standards and protection of its assets.
Responsible for appearance, sanitation, credit card and check cashing procedures, nightchecks,
promotions, etc.
F. Protect company funds and assets through monitoring of correct shift reporting, cash and credit card
handling, banking, ATM, money order and MoneyGram procedures, product supply and physical
merchandise inventories, audit maintenance, and security procedures. Perform administrative duties
necessary to ensure effective operations. Offer strategies to achieve performance measures, control
shrink, labor expenses, budgets, product knowledge and merchandise techniques, suggestive selling and
vendor relations.
G. Stay abreast of competitive marketing conditions/trends and advise supervisor through oral and written
reports, i.e. competitor surveys and competitor benchmarking to ensure achievement of Petr-All marketing
policies.
H. Handle customer complaints fast and effectively to ensure that we provide all of our customers with the
best buying experience.
I. Determine required stock levels, plan purchases from vendors based on the "Expressly Yours" and the
Merchandising and Promotional Calendar, seasonality, and desired profit targets from product mix.
J. Ensure that the store image is consistent with the company's standards and reputation for cleanliness,
quality products and friendly service wow's the customer.
K. Maintain station records: shift reports, computer reports and records, daily sales reports, payroll,
personnel information as well as various in-station logs and audit maintenance.
L. Maintenance: Provide routine preventive maintenance to keep all equipment operating at maximum
efficiency.
M. Ensure, if full service is available, that all personnel provide fast and quality friendly service to all
customers through a well-trained staff and company guidelines.
N. Ensure that all pricing procedures and guidelines are correct as listed in the pricebooks for all
merchandise.
O. Security:
•Responsible for controlling the inventory and cash in the store.
•Ensure that the following procedures and tasks are performed correctly: vendor check-in, shift
change and reporting change fund, employee purchases, money orders, lottery, credit card, check
cashing and banking.
•Responsible for audit maintenance on a daily basis within company guidelines in order to achieve
a less than 1% shrink and increase sales and profit.
•Protect company assets at all times.
