Expree Credit Union is Hiring a Collections Specialist Near Frankfort, KY

Purpose:

The Collections Specialist will be responsible for administrative duties within the Collection Department. They will work closely with the Collection Manager to assist members experiencing financial difficulty.

Position Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Monitor payments for delinquent status, including contacting members by phone, text, and mail to assist them in developing plans to bring their accounts current. Determine when further collection action is needed and make recommendations to the Collection Supervisor.
  • Update files and system accounts while maintaining a detailed written record of all communications with members.
  • File proof of claims in bankruptcy cases; coordinate with the Collection Supervisor for referral to an attorney as needed.
  • Gather account information from multiple sources and submit it to third parties.
  • Coordinate repossessions with third-party repossession agents.
  • Process non-wage garnishment and levies.
  • Prepare month-end reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education/Experience/Licenses

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a financial services environment with at least 1 year in collections preferred

Skills

  • Must have the ability to use related computer software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exemplary customer service experience.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of collection laws and regulations.
  • Ability to build rapport and work well in a team environment.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment in which pace and noise level varies depending on member traffic.

Physical Demands

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to communicate with others to exchange information.
  • Ability to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
