Trissential is currently seeking a Test Lead to join our client team in Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO. Must be able to work a flex/hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Local candidates only - must be able to be physically in office in one location.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate for this role will spearhead a pivotal phase in our software development, focusing on two crucial software implementations consolidated into a single program. The primary task involves upgrading our Schneider Electric ADMS application suite from version 3 to 7.39, with 90% of the effort devoted to regression testing. Beyond a standard upgrade, this initiative encompasses a comprehensive overhaul of the underlying hardware, involving the replacement of approximately 119 blades, storage, and networking components. The candidate will be instrumental in establishing a testing group, transitioning from Rational ELM to JIRA for enterprise-level defect management and test script tools. Additionally, there is a critical need to migrate data from RELM to JIRA while preserving essential test data, conditions, and scripts. Collaboration with an offshore development team in Serbia introduces a time zone challenge, emphasizing the importance of experience with off-site development.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a pivotal role in the testing process, collaborating closely with the offshore team during the day, managing defect tracking, and overseeing the execution of factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and user acceptance tests (UAT), along with performance tests.
  • Keeping the defects dashboard updated and providing regular status reports will be essential, as will managing stage gates and updating the master test strategy. The complexity is heightened by the fact that there are three systems consolidated into one, each serving different operating companies, all falling under the umbrella of operational technology.
  • A phased rollout across operating companies, spanning four to six months starting at the end of ‘25 and concluding in the first quarter of Jan 2026, will be part of the candidate's responsibilities.
    • This rollout will transition to phase two, involving the decommissioning of the current outage management system based on Oracle NMS and replacing it with Schneider's OMS.
  • Pivotal in testing and implementing new functionalities, including pushing the system to mobile devices for field crews and providing a read-only web interface for non-control center personnel.
  • Consolidating switching functions into a single network model presents another challenge, necessitating thorough testing of conditions and scripts, as there will be no incumbent system to reference.
  • Managing a test team, overseeing stage gates, defect tracking, and navigating through SAT, UAT, and address rehearsals in a three-phase rollout, culminating by the end of 2027.
  • You should will be instrumental in maintaining high standards and ensuring the successful integration of these complex software implementations.
  • Responsible for evaluating and testing software for completeness, quality, correctness and security.
  • Develops test plans and test cases.
  • Develops automated tests.
  • Performs manual and automated tests for software functionality, installation, and usability.
  • Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
  • Manages bugs and error tracking. Documents and presents test results to management.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes testing of application modifications and bug fixes.
  • Works with multiple development teams and software projects.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Essential familiarity with the unique functional area and software involved in operational technology, recognizing its significant deviation from conventional IT.
  • The successful candidate must comprehend the distinct nature of operational technology, which encompasses considerations of security, precision, and complexity beyond typical customer-facing applications.
  • A robust background in regression testing, showcasing expertise in managing a test team, and a proven track record in overseeing large-scale software deployments.
  • Specific experience with ADMS software and operational technology is indispensable, with a focus on the Schneider Electric application suite.
  • Additional experience in similar technologies from other providers, such as GE and OSI, would be advantageous.
  • A profound understanding of the intricacies associated with operational technology, demonstrating an acknowledgment of the need for heightened security measures and precision.
  • Experience with Schneider applications is a distinct advantage, given the nature of the role.
  • The ability to navigate complex software implementations and provide leadership in a testing capacity is crucial.
  • Successful candidates will be those capable of ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the software through rigorous testing methodologies, displaying a keen eye for detail, and exhibiting a commitment to maintaining high standards in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Experience with a test tracking software package is desired.

Benefits

This role is full-time, with eligibility for company sponsored health care, paid time away from work, and 401k with matching. Compensation range is $50 - $80 per hour, or up to $150,000 annually. Business related travel will be reimbursed, however, candidate should be local to either Minneapolis or Denver.
