Trissential is currently seeking a Sr. Technical Product Manager/Owner with deep knowledge of Salesforce CPQ to join our dynamic team in San Diego, CA (Remote with 20% Travel).

Responsibilities

Primary Role Goal:

  • Lead the development and articulation of functional requirements for Salesforce CPQ system enhancements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.

Primary Business Service Value:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of Global Discount Management Capabilities, ensuring they meet international business standards and customer expectations.

Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the clients stakeholders to develop business cases, product vision, mission, goals, and charter; facilitate sessions for business process design and policy documentation.
  • Lead global requirements-gathering sessions with cross-functional teams, including commercial operations, pricing, legal, finance, and marketing.
  • Maintain a ready backlog of product enhancements and changes for the Agile Scrum team.
  • Accept final product deliverables, ensuring they meet success criteria and desired outcomes.
  • Mature product features for inclusion in the backlog and develop a prioritization model to balance different types of work based on product lifecycle and team needs.
  • Continuously measure product performance and refine the Product Capability Roadmap.
  • Collaborate with teams to create and groom user stories, encouraging exploration and experimentation.
  • Act as the voice of the end-user, understanding and responding to customer feedback to ensure needs are effectively addressed.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the technical team, clarify requirements, and assist in removing impediments.
  • Promote continuous improvement across teams, ensuring consistency and alignment with best practices.
  • Ensure all team activities and environmental changes align with customer value streams, communicating impacts to end-users and stakeholders.
  • Communicate business needs effectively through clear personas, use-cases, and business requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between developers and the product governance team, ensuring clarity on business value and verifying that outcomes meet business needs.

Artifacts, Deliverables, and Outputs:

  • Create a detailed project and governance plan outlining activities, deliverables, workshops, and key decisions leading to timely and high-quality requirements.
  • Create Outline of in-scope Products & Services and descriptions.
  • Create Value Propositions for each distinct product or service.
  • Current State Processes Maps (Value Stream Maps, journey maps, internal workflows, internal and external pain/friction points and modernization and automation improvement ideas).
  • Document End-to-end detailed internal Process Workflows.
  • Consolidated feedback from cross-functional teams.
  • Draft Product & Service Vision Canvas.
  • Document Key Actor’s Personas (users, customers, vendors, partners, etc.).
  • Document Business Scenarios (aka, Persona Use Cases).
  • Journey Maps (aka, user or customer experience maps).
  • Future State Process Maps (Desired User Experience, Value Streams).
  • Identify gaps between Current & Desired Future State.
  • Refine plans based on gaps.
  • Create efficient and required Data Flow Diagrams to drive Data solutions.
  • Document and ensure agreement from all stakeholders on any out-of-scope Items.
  • Create Draft Features & User Stories (aka, Story map).
  • Capture workshop discussions/decisions and integrate into plans.
  • Keep all relevant documents updated and current.

Qualifications

Role Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of Salesforce Configuration Price & Quote (CPQ) product rules, price rules, advanced approvals, bundles, product configuration, summary variables, guided selling, quote templates, MDQ, QCP plugins.
  • Track record of building CPQ solutions from Lead to Order, including Contracts, Amendments, and Renewals.
  • 5 years of experience as a Salesforce Product Owner, Salesforce Product Manager, or Salesforce Sr. Business Analyst.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Agile Product Management preferred.
  • Ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to identify, address, and resolve issues across workstreams and multiple agile teams.
  • Ability to facilitate regional workshops across time zones (US, Europe, APAC)
  • Experience working with the Scrum teams across the globe and able to cater to the business needs.
  • Strong business analysis skills with the ability to identify key gaps in process, investigate themes or issues, and strategically recommend solutions to problems with often limited information.

Education & Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, Engineering or other related preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM or similar) preferred
  • Product Management Certification (e.g., from AIPMM) a plus
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (e.g., PMI-ACP, SAFe SA) a plus

  • Strategic Planning and Vision: The ability to develop and articulate a long-term vision for the product and align it with the overall business strategy. This includes setting product goals and objectives and understanding market trends.
  • Product Mindset: Focus on defining a product value proposition that aligns with and supports the Commercial strategic pillars and initiatives.
  • User-Centric Design and Customer Experience: Experience in understanding user needs and incorporating user feedback into product development. This might involve conducting user research, usability testing, or working closely with UX/UI design teams.
  • Change & Stakeholder Management: The ability to manage and adapt to change, guiding teams and stakeholders through transitions, especially as related to product evolution and market shifts. Skills in managing and negotiating with stakeholders, including balancing differing priorities and expectations. This is crucial for ensuring alignment and buy-in across various departments and levels of an organization.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Skills in leading and motivating teams, especially in a cross-functional and global setting. This includes fostering a positive team culture and aiding in the professional development of team members.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and the financial implications of product decisions, which is crucial in ensuring the product's profitability and sustainability.
  • Communications: Ability to communicate thoughts, concepts, recommendations effectively at all levels, adjusting as needed to a target audience. Proven ability to present information (mockups, wireframes, process flows, etc.) to solution business process inefficiencies or poor user interface/user experiences. Timely escalations of key issues or risks and communication of key decisions.
  • Collaboration: Expertise working with others in a cross-functional multi-team environment.
  • Project Management: While Agile experience is mentioned, broader project management skills can also be vital, including resource planning, timeline management, and risk mitigation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate a commitment to continually improve, share learning with others and encourage team development.
