Go-Kart Track Department Manager

Immediate Supervisor: VP of Track Operations

Job Purpose

The Go-Kart Track Department Manager, under the direct supervision of the VP of Track Operations, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of go-kart track operations. This includes implementing and maintaining the highest safety standards, effective crew management, and expert oversight of the fleet, with essential emphasis on customer service.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement and maintain the highest safety standards for both customers and co-workers.
  • Effectively manage the crew to ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of go-kart mechanics to oversee fleet maintenance and operations.
  • Possess proficient driving skills to conduct test drives and assess the performance of the go-kart fleet.
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of go-kart dynamics and safety protocols during test drives.
  • Ensure the environment is kept safe, clean, and professional for customers as well as co-workers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and appearance reflective of the critical role this position plays as ambassador in receiving our guests.
  • Greet customers professionally and proactively assess what each customer wants or needs before the customer feels they must ask.
  • Open and close cash registers and maintain accountability for balances on cash drawers. Perform tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchersBalance cash drawers and make safe-deposits.
  • Compute sales prices, total purchases, receive and process cash or credit payments.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding the “track experience.Work both outside and inside the office, based on the needs of the go-kart track and the needs of the customers/booking schedule through each day
  • Constantly move amongst customers at the track and attend to those potential customers that seek information in person. 
  • Take ownership of all customer complaints and seek to resolve any issues that arise as trainedHandle customer complaints with empathy and professionalismEscalate customer challenges as appropriate when the need arises.
  • Keep constant watch around the track, office and all guest-accessible areas for potential safety hazards that may present themselves to customers and co-workers alike. Work to maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for all co-workers and customers. 
  • Protect our business, client, and employee information, including customer names, billing, and contact information.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is mandatory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Go-Kart Track Expertise:

  • Demonstrate in-depth experience and knowledge in the go-kart track industry.

Work Environment

Work is performed in atrack operation setting with high-levelsof face-to-face client interactionAdditionally, the worker is regularly exposed to real-world racetrack conditions, noise levels, sights, sounds and smellsThis position regularly moves between work typically performed in the an office environment as well as assisting guests outdoors in a racetrack environment. This position is requiredto regularly climb, balance, bend, stoop, crouch, and or kneel while performing normal job duties and which necessitatefrequent mobility throughout the employee’s workdayThis position requires decision-making without immediate supervision, and the ability to prioritize tasks, be exact, meet strict deadlines, and work with the publicThis position must successfully work as part of a cohesive team, coordinating or leading others in accomplishingwork activities, and maintainingresponsibility for work outcomes and results. This position should expect you to work hours outside of regular business hours (those hours in the evenings, on weekends and some national holidays).

Qualifications 

Experience and Education: 

  • High School diploma, 
  • 2 years' experience in a fast-paced operations environment with direct involvement in scheduling and personnel management. 
  • Experience with face-to-face customer interaction in a management capacitywill be expected of this position daily.

Skills

  • Basic Skills: Active learning, active listening, critical thinking, basic math to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, reading comprehension, speaking, writing. Must possess strong attention to detail
  • Social Skills:High levels of coordination, instructing, negotiation, persuasion, service orientation, social perceptiveness.

  • Systems Skills: Judgment and decision making, social perceptiveness. 
  • Resource Management Skills: Time management & ability to prioritize/reprioritize.
  • Desktop Computer Skills: Spreadsheets, presentations, internet navigation, word processing. 

Knowledge

  • Administration and Management — General office administrative duties and management of customer needs.
  • Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Tools: Calculators, desktop computers, scanners, copiers, fax, and phone systems.
  • Other: Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the performance of go-karts
