Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated individual for a Construction Supervisor, Level IV position. This is for our power utility client.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support quality control, safety, and general construction oversight to ensure our contractors and subcontractors are working within our policy on safety, following specifications for their project.
• This role will follow client’s base capital projects and will cover the Denver metro area (90% of projects), with remaining 20% being Pueblo and Steamboat Springs.
• Projects include repair work in combustion turbines, coal plants, hydro plants. Also includes electrical projects, mostly low voltage below 1000 volts.
• Works closely with the project managers reporting directly to them.
• This is a construction supervisor role; however, overall responsibilities are to oversee safety, provide quality control, and ensure the contractors are following specifications.
• 100% in the field traveling to and working between different plants on base capital projects listed above.

General Responsibilities

• Manages the entire project lifecycle from project definition through implementation.
• Accountable for meeting agreed upon scope, cost, schedule, and quality measures.
• Develops project plan and drives project milestones.
• Establishes effective communication plan with project team and key stakeholders.
• Provides day-to-day direction to project resources. This ensures the project teams receive the resources and support needed to reach their defined objectives.
• Ensures effective change management occurs throughout the course of the project.
• Prepares documentation and status reports.

Requirements

• 8-10 years of large-scale power utility renewable /plant construction knowledge. Not looking for general construction.
• Renewable energy systems knowledge, primarily solar and wind.
• Fossil fuel plant knowledge, coal burning plants as well as combustion turbine generating plants.
• Hydro dam and plant generating experience is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communications. Basic skills in in Word and other Microsoft Suite knowledge is required as well to conduct PowerPoint presentations, budgeting on Excel spreadsheets, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Excellent project planning, judgment, decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of construction best practices.
