This includes personnel safety, process safety, compliance (regulatory, environmental, legal), training, production, process improvement, efficiency, yield, quality, volume, and budget. Responsibilities
Supervise and manage the activities of Production Engineers, Shift Supervisors, Production Supervisor and Maintenance/Training Coordinator.
Manage plant processes to ensure process safety, environmental and regulatory compliance.
Manage operations to meet production demands, product quality, yield, efficiency, utilization and quality goals. Manage new production trials and process development.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets. Maintain cost control within the approved budget.
Chair daily operations meeting. Attend technical reviews, hazard analyses, quarterly management review, etc. as required.
Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
Monitor and review performance against HS&E KPIs, and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility; Take action improve performance and to resolve non-compliance with the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions.
Identify shortcomings in existing manufacturing processes, systems, and procedures; suggest and implement improvements; and develop and deliver larger improvement projects with guidance from senior colleagues.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and training in supervisory and communication skills.
5-10 years of previous experience in chemical plant operations and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Applies comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on reviewing and creating relevant, lucid and effective reports.
Applies comprehensive knowledge to act independently while providing guidance and training to others on using clear and effective verbal communications skills to express ideas, request actions and formulate plans or policies.
Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to act independently while guiding and training others on making sure the organization develops and maintains the culture, values and design it needs to reach its objectives while managing structural change.

Preferred Requirements
B.S. or higher in chemical engineering
MBA highly desired
Demonstrated ability to effectively apply MS Excel and other analysis tools to real-world problem-solving
Good understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
Preferred to have familiarity with different cultural backgrounds
Understanding of general industry key performance indicators including OEE, technical availability, and specific yield
General understanding of all other aspects of a operating a chemical business including (but not limited to): customer account management, logistics, supply chain, procurement, accounts payable, human resources, legal, and technical controlling.
