About The Program

The EvolveMKD Fellowship is a 12-week full-time work experience and training program. This is a paid program requiring 40 hours per week. Open recent graduates only, this paid and highly competitive opportunity will give aspiring public relations professionals the chance to work alongside the team at EvolveMKD and gain hands on experience. Additionally, this opportunity has the potential to lead to full-time employment upon completion of the Fellowship.

This role is open to December 2023 graduates who are available to start immediately and/or upcoming May/June 2024 graduate who are available to start in the summer.

A successful Fellow at EvolveMKD will have strong, intuitive written and verbal communications skills, and should be fueled by an inner drive to learn new ways of thinking and hone their craft. They should be a self-starter and have strong research, project management and organization skills. We also expect all team members to demonstrate problem-solving abilities, both when acting alone and as part of a collaborative team, as EvolveMKD is a fast-paced, start-up environment. 

Passion and enthusiasm for the work, as well as team collaboration and respect are required.

EvolveMKD is based in Manhattan and we operate on a hybrid schedule (in-office 3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Relocation assistance is not provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day account management; such as agendas, recaps, activity reports, media monitoring, coordination of all necessary materials for client accounts, and responding in a timely and professional manner to client requests or needs
• Work collaboratively with team members to execute successful PR tactics and activations (creative mailers/desksides/etc.)
• Build understanding and knowledge of the clients’ business and their competitive environments through ongoing research, media monitoring, and list management 
• Support team and participate in development and execution of media events, editor desksides, client business planning, new business efforts, and creative deliveries as directed by senior leadership 
• Refresh client folders on an ongoing basis, and audit quarterly to ensure organization 
• Learn to develop strong pitch letters, press materials, key messages, and event briefing materials
• Foster media relations, including identifying target media, drafting pitches, fact-checking, editor entertainment and generating consistent results 
• Present ideas in a clear, concise and persuasive manner among vendors, peers and clients when appropriate
• Project management including development of timelines, management of project-specific budgets and vendor coordination
• Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly monitoring and reporting

Qualifications

• Graduating Senior or recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing a plus but not required
• Minimum 3 months of public relations internship experience with a focus on beauty, health and lifestyle brands preferred
• Strong written communications skills; ability to present ideas in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner, both in person and virtually via phone or email
• Proficiency in Office365, as well as media database and monitoring tools such as Cision
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• An open mind, with the ability to learn new skills quickly and comprehensively

Compensation: $20/hr
