Overview: As a Dental Hygienist, you play a crucial role in the dental healthcare team, focusing primarily on preventive oral care and patient education. Your responsibilities include performing various dental hygiene procedures to promote oral health, assisting dentists during dental procedures, and educating patients on proper oral hygiene techniques. You will work closely with dentists, dental assistants, and other dental professionals to provide comprehensive dental care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct dental hygiene assessments: Perform thorough examinations of patients' oral health, including assessing their teeth, gums, and overall oral condition.
  2. Dental cleaning and scaling: Perform professional dental cleanings to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from patients' teeth. Conduct scaling and root planing procedures to treat gum disease and promote gum health.
  3. Provide preventive dental care: Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to help prevent tooth decay. Offer advice and guidance on maintaining good oral hygiene habits.
  4. Assist dentists during procedures: Assist dentists with dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, and root canals. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment as needed.
  5. Educate patients: Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary habits. Provide personalized recommendations for improving oral health.
  6. Take dental X-rays: Capture dental X-rays as needed to assist in diagnosing dental issues and monitoring oral health.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited dental hygiene program.
