As a 24/7 operation, a variety of shift schedules may be available at any given time, including evenings, weekends, and overnights.

Youth Care Specialists supervise adolescents in a highly individualized transitional and independent living program. Responsibilities include providing transportation (agency vehicle provided); administering medication; providing life skill instruction; offering support in non-crisis situations; completion of daily logs, attendance at trainings and/or staff meetings, basic computer skills.

High school diploma or GED is required, Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

Must have a strong desire to work with adolescents, be adaptable to change, organized, and a problem solver. Maintain a clean driving record that is insurable through the agency, have ability to pass a federal criminal background fingerprinting check, drug screen, and be at least 21 years of age.

Steppingstone is a program of Every Child’s Hope, providing shelter and care for Kansas City’s at-risk and homeless youth by delivering highly individualized transitional and independent living services to those ages 16 – 21. The Steppingstone program helps young people work toward self-sufficiency by assisting them in the acquisition of independent living skills, which increases their ability to live successfully in the community.
