RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Making frequent resident rounds to review the physical and emotional status of the residents, and to impolement any required nursing intervention.
• Review medication records for completeness, accuracy in the transcription of physician orders, and adherence to stop-order policies.
• Assigning responsibility for direct patient/resident nursing care to nurse aides.
• Supervising and evaluating the performance of all nursing personnel on shift.
• Administers medications according to established unit dose system procedures and physician orders.
• Takes, records, and charts temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration, and physical assessment observations on a monthly basis.
• Assists in admission and orientation of new residents.
• Trains nurse aides in performance of duties.
• Receives change of shift report and gives report to oncoming shift regarding status of all residents.
• ALWAYS relates to residents in a positive manner.

• Has knowledge of emergency policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have current LPN or RN licensure in the state of Iowa
• Must be willing and able to work occasional holidays and weekends on designated shifts.
• Must have a two-step Mantoux Tuberculin skin test or chest X/Ray done, that yields negative results, PRIOR to first shift on the floor (The first step of Mantoux being read as negative will allow you to work your shift with follow-up of completion of the second step)
• Ability to tolerate heavy lifting and long periods of time standing and walking.
• Has completed required Supervision Class and can provide certificate showing completion (LPN only)
• Must have current CPR certification or be willing to obtain within 3 months of hire date.
