SUMMARY:
The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for the assessment and treatment of referred patients who are experiencing rehabilitation diagnosis or medical surgical conditions requiring rehabilitation. Provides services for the prevention, identification, diagnosis, consultation, education, and rehabilitation of patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders. Serve as clinical instructors for graduate students in speech pathology, clinical fellows, and other medical professionals. Works closely with the patient, family, and other members of a physician-led team in providing individualized treatment. Responsible to provide direct patient care to assess to assess their communicative, swallowing or cognitive disorders to improve their optimal, functional level of independence and potential for rehabilitation. To establish and administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patient’s capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician. Educates patients and families in appropriate speech therapy methods.

Education
Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
License/Certification
Current Speech Language Pathology license in state of practice. National ASHA certification. Current Basis Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Employee must maintain licensure and certifications throughout employment.
Experience
Must be able to work a rotating weekend schedule. One-year previous experience working in an in-patient rehab facility with an adult population required. Ability to project a professional Image. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Knowledge and experience in the needs of patients ranging in age from 18 to geriatric. Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations. Strong organizational and analytical skills; excellent writing and speaking skills. Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, Electronic Health Records/Electronic Medical Records (EHR/EMR), etc.).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Participates in or conducts company-wide sponsored training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of patient’s protected health information. Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, state and federal regulations and Accreditation Standards.
