The Ceded Reinsurance team of Everest Insurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is seeking a Vice President, Ceded Re Claims to join our team. The selected candidate will be domiciled in Warren, NJ office (HQ). Responsibilites and Stakeholder Interactions: Review underlying claim matters and coverage files (discuss with Claims, Underwriting and Ceded Re when necessary) to determine if claims are reportable to reinsurers. Provided reinsurance brokers and reinsurers with initial notice and status updates in accordance with reinsurance contracts. Assist Reinsurance Accounting in providing loss bordereaux and other documentation to assist with the billing of reinsurance recoverables and cash calls. If needed, provide guidance on the calculation of reinsurance recoverables, including application of treaty clauses with regards to inurement, interlocking, AADs, franchise deductibles, loss caps, MAOL, etc. Act as a liaison between Reinsurance Accounting and brokers/reinsurers with regards to escalation and resolution of claim disputes. This includes assisting Everest’s Legal team and outside counsel with demand letters, arbitrations, and any legal proceedings related to reinsurance recoverables. Support the Ceded Re treaty placement process and submission preparation by providing ground up loss runs and additional loss reports which appropriately aggregate risks or claims as provided for in each treaty. Provide value added feedback to Ceded Re with respect to regarding contract wording based on claims precedent, workflow/service constraints, etc. Facilitate reinsurer claim audits from beginning to end including providing claim file audit list, working with Claims and I/T to make files available to auditors and coordinating/participating in wrap up meetings. Aid Actuarial in the calculation of ceded IBNR by providing guidance on treaty structure and subject claims. Create standard loss notification templates and develop associated workflows. Collaborate with reinsurance stakeholders on other process improvement opportunities to reinsurance workflow and systems. Build and maintain relationships with within the reinsurance community that reflect positively on the Everest brand.
