This role will be responsible for applying predictive modeling and machine learning techniques to gain better data insights and solve business challenges around profitability and growth. Successful candidates bring expertise in insurance industry, a passion for applying ML and AI insights, and the ability to design and implement data science capabilities to inform strategic decision making. This is a hybrid position in Warren, NJ working 3 days in office, 2 remote. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Create modeling datasets including extraction of structured and unstructured data, cleansing and validation Build and maintain predictive models for various use cases in underwriting, distribution and claims Utilize various aspects of analytics including statistical analysis, exploratory data analysis, machine learning and modeling techniques to analyze large and complex data sets Deliver insights from data with advanced analytic models and visualization tools Work directly with business leaders to introduce and apply ML and AI innovations to practical and impactful business challenges Establishing and following data science best practices including peer review, code review, documentation, coding standards, and ensuring reproducibility and compliance Collaborate with various business partners, IT and peers to drive technical execution of modeling projects Qualifications, Education & Experience: BS or MS in data science, advanced analytics, mathematics, or quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Engineering, Physics 5 years of experience as a data scientist Experience with large-scale datasets and implementing predictive modeling, data mining, and other quantitative and research analytics Proficiency in SQL, Python or R P&C insurance industry experience Proven track record for delivery of data-driven insights and advanced analytic models Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to structure an analytic project, work with ambiguity, problem solve, focus on outcomes, adhere to timelines, and deliver results Ability to explain the output of work products to leadership without ambiguity Ability to meet deadlines with high-quality end-products in a fast-paced environment Solid organizational skills and the ability to work both in a team environment and independently on assignments Our Culture At Everest, our purpose is to provide the world with protection.
