Evans Consulting is Hiring a Communications Consultant Near Washington, DC

Description

Evans is hiring for a Communications Consultant with strategic and technical communications experience to join their growing team on one of their contracts in Washington DC. This position will be critical to Evans’ and the client’s success by supporting client communications and outreach efforts. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with experience in both traditional and digital platforms who possesses strong writing and editing capabilities while thriving in a fast-paced environment working both independently and collaboratively.

Location Details: This role is hybrid with approximately 1 day/month on-site at the FAA headquarters in Washington D.C.

  • Communicate with executive level leaders and support correspondence and outreach efforts.
  • Work independently with little supervision to produce monthly deliverables such as newsletters and analytics reports on audience engagement.
  • Proactively identify challenges or opportunities and propose unique approaches, even in an ambiguous environment.
  • Develop and coordinate written products for internal and external requests, including action item responses and presentations.
  • Develop professional communication products including briefings, talking points, hot sheets, white papers and status reports or other required documentation using various data systems.
  • Support branding and content development for internal websites.
  • Provide editorial support through various forms of correspondence, when directed by the client. 
  • Provide logistics support for meetings, All Hands, conferences, etc. and prepare supporting materials such as talking points and invitations.
  • Facilitate meetings, take accurate meeting minutes, and produce summary notes/minutes or reports from meetings. 
  • Record, maintain and monitor progress of action items.
  • Provide proactive support to manage day-to-day business for senior leadership. 
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders, including field personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of experience (preferred) or Associate’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience.
  • Experience conducting communications planning and developing key messages with ability to translate complex technical language into plain language and/or engaging visuals. 
  • Experience improving quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of client communications and outreach.
  • Ability to listen to clients’ challenges and proactively help them solve problems and follow through on actions.
  • Strong formal written communications, including creation of technical writing, editing, staff features, briefings.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to support multiple activities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated efficiency with MS Office Suite and SharePoint to maintain library of reusable communication products and artifacts.
