MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Euclid Public Library has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, resourceful, creative addition to our team. The successful applicant must have the ability to coordinate the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation for the marketing and communications needs of the library. The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for accomplishing this mission by overseeing the internal and external library communications; accepting passport applications; developing and implementing an effective and coordinated marketing strategy; and serving as the library’s liaison to community organizations.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or communications. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in public relations or an equivalent field. A record of success in supervising and directing the work of other; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Certification as a Passport Acceptance Agent required unless exempted.
Work hours: 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday – 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. in addition to one evening per month, the third Tuesday to attend Board meetings.
Starting Salary Rate: $62,192.00

Position Title: Marketing & Communications Manager
Department: Administration
Grade: 27
Reports To: Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Positions Supervised: Graphics Design Associate and Multimedia & Communications Specialist
POSITION DUTIES
  • Assigns work and delegates responsibility
  • Assists with establishing and maintaining order in the library
  • Attends meetings and serves on the internal and external committees
  • Formulates marketing and public relations strategy within the goals of the Director and the Library Board of Trustees
  • Coordinates the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the marketing and communication needs of the library
  • Coordinates the production of marketing materials in print and electronic formats
  • Coordinates the public use of meeting rooms
  • Determines necessary staffing and recommends staffing levels
  • Develops and administers department budget
  • Develops and/or conducts in-service training
  • Directs staff by coaching, training, counseling, and disciplining employees, and planning, monitoring and appraising job results
  • Writes and distributes news releases and promotes story ideas to the media with prior approval of the Director
  • Ensures effective communication of information to all department employees
  • Generates publicity about library services and activities in print and electronic formats
  • Interviews candidates for positions and recommends hiring
  • Keeps up to date with new practices, trends, and standards in the field by reading journals, attending professional
meetings and conferences
  • Maintains working relationships with the media
  • Participates in strategic planning process and supports the creation of materials for the strategic plan
  • In the absence of the Circulation & Technical Services Manager, serves as the Manager of the Passport Program, overseeing functions
related to training and preparing staff to accept US passports and complete the application process
  • Performs miscellaneous writing tasks for staff
  • Prepares department work schedule; verifies time sheets
  • Prepares Euclid Public Library annual report, monthly Marketing & Communications reports, and any other information library reports
  • Research grant opportunities and completes grant application process
  • Presents and/or works with Library Managers to schedule staff to present library programs or tours to various community groups
  • Reviews policies and procedures and recommends changes
  • Serves as a member of the Administrative Team
  • Serves as spokesperson to the media
  • Takes photographs for promotional material
  • Performs additional duties and assignments, as needed or requested
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or communications
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in public relations or an equivalent field
  • A record of success in supervising and directing the work of others; or an equivalent combination of education,
training and experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires the ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set up and maintain work files. Requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. and the mobility to locate, retrieve and provide materials to customers in a timely manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed in a general library/office environment. Position may require availability for extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends. Occasional day and overnight travel by air or automobile will be required for meetings and conferences. Position requires periodic participation and attendance at events and meetings.
