Stronger Connections Program Director (School Year 2024 - 2025)

The Stronger Connections Program Director is responsible for ensuring that all programming under the Stronger Connections Grant meets or exceeds the goals of the grant and the expectations of Etoile Academy for all students. Stronger Connections programming will take place after school at both campuses and include academic support for at-risk students, high interest clubs/extracurriculars, and mental health supports.

Responsibilities

Program Planning and Design

  • Design and develop a comprehensive after-school program that aligns with the school's mission, academic goals, and Stronger Connections Grant goals;
  • Create a diverse range of activities, including academic support, enrichment programs, arts and crafts, sports, and mental health workshops;
  • Establish a structured daily schedule that balances homework assistance, recreational activities, and skill-building mental health sessions;
  • Work with the Finance Director and Talent Director to create a program budget (within grant limits), hire effective staff, and ensure the program is financially sustainable;
  • Recruit and train site coordinators that meet qualifications and commit to delivering results of the grant and our academic goals;
  • Recruit and train licensed Social Worker to participate in programming, create programming, and oversee interns at both sites;

Implementation and Supervision

  • Coordinate and oversee daily program operations, ensuring a smooth and organized environment
  • Supervise program staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of quality programs;
  • Provide regular live-coaching and feedback to site coordinators and staff to ensure continuous improvement;
  • Collaborate with Compliance Coordinator to ensure grant expectations are met during daily programming;
  • Collaborate with Campus Principals to ensure academic expectations for programming are met and students show growth on NWEA MAP due to academic interventions;
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student participation and engagement
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations to enhance program offerings

Assessment and Evaluation

  • Develop and implement regular assessments to measure the impact and effectiveness of the after-school programs;
  • Utilize Etoile after school quality measures to score programming monthly and give feedback to staff;
  • Collect and analyze data to make informed decisions for program improvement;
  • Solicit feedback from students, parents, and staff to continuously enhance program quality;
  • Ensure all surveys and data collection for the Stronger Connections Grant are completed in a timely manner and meet benchmarks for grant programming

Administrative Tasks

  • Manage program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines;
  • Maintain accurate records of program attendance, activities, and evaluations;
  • Prepare reports for school administration and funding agencies as required;
  • Attend any and all trainings for the Stronger Connections Grant and submit all required documentation

Goals for this position:

  1. At least 120 students enrolled in after school programming and attending consistently between the two campuses
  2. At least 85% average daily attendance of enrolled students
  3. Programming stays with 3% of planned budget
  4. Parent and student satisfaction surveys indicate at least 85% are satisfied with after school programming
  5. 100% Compliance with Stronger Connections grant timelines and deliverables
  6. By the end of the third quarter, 80% of participating students will demonstrate an increase in their self-reported social-emotional well-being scores on the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire
  7. At least 85% attendance at quarterly parent meetings (virtual and in-person) to ensure collaboration with parents before, during, and after programming

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in high-performing urban schools with specific experience managing extracurriculars and/or external partners
  • Expertise in extracurricular activities, student programming, and/or after school activities
  • Experience as a teacher or school-based role preferred
  • Experience running programming with over 50 students preferred
  • Experience running mental health programming preferred
  • A demonstrable commitment to pursuing equity.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within an ambiguous, fast-moving, start-up environment, while driving toward clarity and solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
