Ethos Classical is Hiring a Lead Special Education Teacher (Fall 2024) Near Atlanta, GA

THE ROLE

The Elementary Special Education Teacher leads supports for Special Education students to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. The Special Education Teacher will provide critical guidance to Lead Teachers to ensure that all staff are complying with and meeting the needs of Special Education students.

THE PERSON

As a Lead Special Education Elementary Teacher, you will:

  • Review weekly lesson plans and provide modifications, as necessary
  • Teach small groups in guided reading & math, using a research-based curriculum
  • Monitor referrals for scholars with special needs
  • Implement and adjust behavior interventions for scholars
  • Implement school-wide systems for academics and behavior
  • Engage families through phone calls, home visits, bus rides, and notes
  • Implement processes to monitor progress of exceptional students
  • Compile data for meetings, updates, and annual reports
  • Participate in an annual three-week staff training prior to school’s opening
  • Commit to teach an extended daily schedule and attend daily professional development
  • Support teachers and paraprofessionals to implement interventions
  • Do whatever it takes to achieve the mission of Ethos Classical

THE MUST HAVES

Prior Experience

  • A certification in Special Education or are working towards certification in Special Education.
  • Experience managing a Special Education caseload.
  • The ability to teach core subjects (Math and Reading) to elementary scholars.

Work Demands

  • Willingness to work occasional weekend or evening work hours required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
