Salary: $52,000-$65,000

THE ROLE

Your job is to hold your scholars to a high bar academically and behaviorally and to grow as a leader in your work every day. Leading a classroom of students is an incredible privilege and requires complete and unwavering commitment. THE PERSON

As a Lead Second Grade Teacher, you will:

  • Write weekly lesson plans in one subject to be shared across the grade level
  • Build a warm, supportive, achievement-oriented culture throughout the school day
  • Internalize, individualize, and execute common lesson plans
  • Make instructional choices with joy and urgency
  • Teach all lessons with a high-bar for rigor
  • Engage in an ongoing data-driven cycle of assessment, analysis, and action
  • Provide consistent rewards and consequences for behavior
  • Implement school-wide systems for academics and behavior
  • Engage families through phone calls, home visits, and notes
  • Participate in an annual four-week staff training prior to school’s opening
  • Commit to teach an extended daily schedule and daily professional development
  • Do whatever it takes to achieve the mission of Ethos Classical

THE MUST HAVES

Prior Experience

  • Full-time classroom experience in a school setting
  • Experience teaching your content, either in small group or large group setting

Work Demands

  • Willingness to work occasional weekend or evening work hours required.

Education

  • A Master’s Degree in the content area is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree, teaching certification, and desire to make history is required
