Position Title: Human Resources Specialist

Reports To: Director of Restaurant Operations

Supervises: Restaurant Managers

Provides Support: Team Members

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist is a leader and role model that provides strategic Human Resources support and compliance for team members, operations, and financial objectives.

The Human Resources Specialist will provide support to the operations and management teams in the attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and possible separation of all team members. They will also coordinate and manage benefits administration for all employees in the organization.

The Human Resources Specialist will work to make sure that team members and operations stays in compliance with employment laws and organizational policies and procedures.

This position will manage and lead the development of HR, onboarding, and training procedures and guidelines and monitor the execution of those guidelines to ensure that all team members are being provided with consistently best in class training.

Operations team members will rely on the Human Resources Specialist for advice and assistance in the navigation of Human Resources related tasks including payroll, staff mediation, and performance reviews while remaining compliant with federal, state, and local laws.

Operations team members are responsible for ensuring the highest level of guest service throughout the restaurants. They are role models and leaders and must solve problems, make informed decisions, train and manage their workforce, and utilize their time wisely in order to achieve maximum results.

The Human Resources Specialist must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at the same time. The ideal candidate has familiarity with organizational and scheduling software such as ADP Workforce Now, Toast, and 7Shifts.

They must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional and timely manner. The Human Resources Specialist must be able to teach and hold team members accountable.

They must possess strong computer skills and show proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Suite and email. They should be a highly motivated self starter with an eye for detail that enjoys seeing projects through to completion.

Should possess an entrepreneurial attitude that allows them to work independently and solve problems

Previous hospitality experience preferred.

Previous experience in a Human Resources Support role preferred.

This role will require the ability to move and lift up to 25lbs and may include sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. A neat and professional appearance is required.

Human Resources Specialist: Tasks and Responsibilities This list is a broad outline of general duties, but does not encompass all responsibilities

  • Interacts with all restaurant management team members to obtain feedback on operational and staffing challenges.
  • Works with restaurant management teams to implement strategies and creates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and long-term staff training.
  • Works directly with restaurant managers to mitigate staffing challenges by actively placing hiring ads, sorting potential candidates, advising on interviewing and hiring decisions, participating in interviews, and helping onboard/orient new employees.
  • Can act as a brand representative at recruitment events.
  • Advises and coaches managers on the appropriate steps to take to help resolve personnel issues, files written warnings and maintains records of disciplinary actions, and participates in disciplinary meetings as necessary.
  • Liaisons directly between restaurant level General Managers, the District Manager, and the Director of Restaurant Operations to help keep the Operations Team members up to date on benefits packages, changes, and terminations.
  • Reviews and investigates all formal and informal grievances and works to implement disciplinary measures as needed and finds resolutions. Looks to find root problems that should be resolved in issues that continue to pop up.
  • Maintains records and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures as well as with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Ensures that all legal requirements regarding alcohol sales, food safety and sanitation, and wage and hours are consistently adhered to.
  • Advises and coaches managers on steps to take to improve response to and resolutions of all complaints, in order to uphold company policies and maintain an amicable work environment.
  • Organizes and conducts bi-annual team member reviews including peer reviews and self- evaluations.
  • Works with management teams to identify team members for promotions. Takes an active role in the interview process and builds training plans that help the team member achieve their potential.
  • Updates employee files and compensation details with payroll.
  • Advises managers on involuntary terminations as necessary, is present at termination meetings, processes termination details, coordinates final paychecks, and updates records and company systems to remove the former team member.
  • Works with Operational and Legal Team to update and enforce Employee Handbook, company policies, and procedures.
  • Assists Operations Team in tracking, recording, and systematizing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Works with Operations Team to develop and implement store audits.
  • Arranges, conducts, and analyzes exit interviews.
  • Participates in, advises on, and records minutes for distribution in weekly management meetings.
  • Provides clerical and administrative support to the operations team.
  • Reviews, establishes, and improves processes and implements best practices.
  • Assists with technological troubleshooting or follows company guidelines to contacting necessary
  • IT support to help resolve issues.
  • Manages and orders general office supplies and works with vendors on bulk merchandise and uniform orders for restaurants. Coordinates merchandise and uniform needs with General Managers.
  • Works with Accounting to assist with invoice tracking.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
