ETANO Center is currently seeking a Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) to join our multi-disciplinary team in a comprehensive medication-assisted treatment program. We are seeking someone looking for part time and PRN hours. We are a recovery-based organization committed to quality care for persons with Opioid Use Disorder. Scheduled work hours for this position will be generally 4:40 AM to 10: 30 AM weekdays. Hours may vary based on clinic needs, every other weekend and holiday rotation are required.

SUMMARY

A Peer Support Specialist is someone with lived experience with a substance use disorder and who is currently living in recovery. They have been successful in their own recovery and have firsthand understanding of their healing process. The PSS will support, assist, and guide clients towards their recovery goals. The PSS will offer support through strengths-based focus by being non-judgmental, respectful, empathetic, and building trust with clients in their recovery process. The PSS will work in a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, counselors, etc.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Strategically develop recovery treatment plans with clients based on their goals.
  • Assist and empower clients in achieving their recovery goals identified on their treatment plans through ongoing support using a person centered approach.
  • Use past experience to guide clients navigating various aspects of their recovery.
  • Clinic reception duties: collecting payments, answering phone calls, administering phone screenings, collecting samples, and other front desk duties.
  • Consistently maintain healthy recovery boundaries and professional standards in addiction recovery treatment.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate groups and other interventions with multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide outreach and client engagement via phone, mail, outside agency coordination, etc.
  • Manages a balanced caseload of clients and provide case management services to ensure records are updated and meet regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other related duties in accordance with ETANO Center growth, departments, and changes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Certification and Experience Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D. College level coursework and/or Associates degree with an emphasis in

Human Services, Counseling and Psychology preferred but not required.

  • Must have prior experience as a Recovery Coach or similar. Commensurate experience in another agency is preferred.
  • Peer Support or RSS training certificate of completion required within 90 days of hire from an AHCCCS approved training program. An equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to behavioral health is acceptable.
  • Experience with substance abuse, seriously mentally ill, and/or general mental health required.
  • Related experience in behavioral health either as a recipient of services, a family member of someone receiving services or primary caregiver of a service recipient is essential to this position.
  • Knowledge of behavioral management, de-escalation methods, crisis intervention, and defusing techniques to prevent violent behavior harmful to self or others and the ability to apply these techniques to a client population in various levels
    of crisis.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform duties with a minimum of supervision.
  • Experience working with multi-cultural and low socio-economic individuals.
  • General knowledge & aptitude for working independently with adults of mixed ethnic groups.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking preferred
  • Certification through an approved Peer Support Employment Training Program or ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire.

Tools and Equipment Requirements

  • The ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required.
  • Frequent use of Microsoft office products, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required.

Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description

  • Requires sitting and standing in a normal office environment, using an office computer, typing for a prolonged period.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.
  • Occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
