REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • As set by Teacher Standards and Practices Commission and/or License from Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology or an educator license with a communications disorders or speech impaired endorsement issued by Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC)
  • Such other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Directors or the Superintendent may find acceptable.
  • Services may required to be delivered in person and/or via Comprehensive Distance Learning (teletherapy) 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • License from Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology or ability to obtain within 3 years.
  • Certificate of clinical competence (ASHA)
  • Previous experience working as Speech Language Pathologist in a school setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

May include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Observe, screen and evaluate students to determine the current level of performance to determine eligibility for speech language services; prepare evaluation reports and participate in drafting individual education program (IEP) goals and objectives.
  • Identify students with articulation, voice, fluency (stuttering) and/or language delays and disorders using standardized, norm-referenced test instruments including determining type and severity of the disorder.
  • Develop speech and language educational plans including determining goals, objectives, methods, materials, frequency, duration, and modifications to regular classroom activities.
  • Provide direct instruction to students including analyzing, reviewing, and revising student progress; communicating with teachers and parents, and preparing the classroom for instruction.
  • Provide ideas and consult with teachers and parents regarding speech and language development and disorders including determining the needs of the child.
  • Develop, select and implement direct, indirect and consultative services based on individual assessment results and planning intervention goals.
  • Plan, develop and complete Individualized Education Plans according to District and State guidelines and policies.
  • Collaborate with the evaluation team to determine best practices
  • Collaborate with evaluation team when evaluating for Autism Spectrum Disorder eligibilities
  • Provide appropriate communication intervention strategies; monitor the effectiveness of interventions, coordinates or assist in the coordination of necessary resources to provide services to students; recommend program adjustments and enhancements as necessary.
  • Ensure each student has necessary evaluation records in his / her permanent file.
  • Furnish the principal with student schedules listing service times and amounts.
  • Supply progress reports to school personnel and parents of students as necessary and per IEP.
  • Complete appropriate reports for local, state, federal, and educational agencies.
  • Refer students who require further evaluation or follow-up services to the appropriate school personnel or community agencies.
  • Provides support to classroom teams to meet the need of students experiencing autism and students with lagging social/emotional skills.
  • Complies with all District procedures, timelines, directives, and rules relating to assignment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services

SALARY: Salary and placement will be in accordance with the District's salary schedule for licensed employees for the 2023/2024 school year. (Current schedule for full time is $53,832,-$91,740) Dependent upon verified years of experience and education as shown on official transcripts.
