Description
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Community School Director will provide direct oversight for all programs and facilities at the Sulphur Springs Community School that includes summer camp, afterschool, out of school time programs, wellness supports, and family programs, while consistently anticipating and exceeding student, family and school expectations. The director will be responsible for creating and implementing a Community Partnership School model while delivering services as outlined by the association to include organization-wide standards and consistencies throughout all programs. The director will provide supervision to multiple program directors and oversight to these department staff teams driving superior program quality and meeting all grant expectations. This position ensures that these teams operate efficiently and employ a continuous improvement model to meet and/or exceed goals for member/participant satisfaction, financial management and overall growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Quality and Growth
  • Provides direct leadership and supervision to the Program Director(s) specializing in the grant funded aspects of the community school model. Leads and/or participates in the community work groups and cabinets.
  • Cultivates and maintains relations with school administration, faculty, partners, providers and residents.
  • Ability to collaborate with organizations in various industries for strategy and sustainability of community school model.
  • Provides quality service and communication to school administration, partners, funders and program participants and ensures an excellent Y program experience for all participants. Strategically leads associate and volunteer recruitment, training and development and overall program growth and quality.
  • Works in partnership with school administration to identify, manage and oversee execution of a network of services within the school day and during out of school time.
  • Camp and Afterschool > Provides leadership and support to the Program Director(s) focusing on all summer camp, afterschool and out of school time operations. Provides leadership to all aspects of afterschool and camp planning. Ensures that the afterschool and camp teams operates efficiently and employs a continuous improvement model to meet and/or exceed goals for participant satisfaction and financial management.
  • Develops and implements association survey and measurement strategies and action plans - Listen 360 and NPS.
  • Participates in strategic planning and workgroup meeting with school, Sulphur Springs Neighborhood of Promise and community partners; identifies, develops and implements programming that supports collective vision.
  • Generates and/or analyzes program enrollment, and grant metrics to monitor and report on achievement of goals.
  • Develops and controls department budgets, achieves assigned operating margin, and ensures that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Ensures that the program meets all contractual and quality measurements, working closely with various employees of the school and YMCA programs.
  • Leads Association initiatives, programs and grants as assigned.
Team Leadership & General Functions
  • Provides direct supervision and leadership to the Program Directors and key program leaders to hire, develop, motivate and retain a committed team passionate about the YMCA's mission, safety and service to members, and the Tampa Y promise.
  • Provides direct supervision to all direct reports and ensures their professional development and success. Directors must be able to perform duties of those they supervise.
  • Supervises and leads program teams to create and maintain meaningful and impactful relationships.
  • Manages associate schedules and payroll for departments ensuring efficient use of resources occurs within programs at all times.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and county laws and regulations related to payroll, licensing, child labor laws, etc.
  • Serves as Senior Leader on site at Sulphur Springs Community School.
  • Completes all job related, supervisory and other trainings as required.
  • Serves on all innovation teams, task forces, and projects as assigned.
  • Assists and leads all duties as assigned, including but not limited to Association initiatives, conferences, and trainings).
Development/Fundraising
  • Supports the annual giving campaign and ensures successby ensuring the implementation and delivery of best practices.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with current and potential funding sources, both private and public.
  • Understands the pressing community needs andgenerates support for our cause and proven solutions for meaningful, enduring impact and stronger communities.
Safety and Risk Management
  • Ensures all Tampa Y program standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
  • Ensures all program associates are properly trained and prepared for emergency situations. This includes implementing and following training requirements in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures.
  • Manages execution of consistent program processes, training and quality control measures to ensure all associates are operating with high level of service to all standards required.
  • Maintains proper records, including associate certifications, meetings, and trainings.
  • Schedules associates and volunteers in accordance to safety and program needs and ensures all safety and program ratios are followed.
Monitors programming to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health & safety regulations.
Requirements
Education/ Experience Required:
  • BA/BS in Education/Youth Development/Social Services or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in leadership roles within social services, and/or nonprofit operations with supervisory and payroll management experience required. Prior experience in school settings preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in day camping and/or after school programs serving at least 150 campers per week (preferred)
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Experience serving on leadership team of a Y (or similar) membership organization serving over 3,000 membership households preferred.
  • Proven results in increasing program quality and growth through exceptional planning and organizational skills.
  • 5 years of successful experience implementing grant funded programs.
  • Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet or exceed goals, cultivate and retain program participants.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with program prospects and others to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated skills in fiscal management and financial development (including annual campaign, capital, and/or planned giving) and achieving margin targets.
  • Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making.
  • Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
  • Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
Certifications/Trainings Required:
  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR, AED and First Aid.
  • Maintain other required certifications as stated in the training matrix.
