Essential Family Health & Wellness is Hiring a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Near Phoenix, AZ

Holistic and functional medical center looking for a dedicated Medical Billing Assistant. We specialize in superior patient care with a natural healing approach to overall optimal health. We are looking for a positive person to join our amazing team of medical professionals including physicians, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and dieticians.

Expectations and Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:

  • Documentation Review: Conduct thorough reviews of patient medical records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with coding guidelines, including clinical documentation improvement (CDI) initiatives before pushing claims through Elation billing software.
  • Claims Management: Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately and timely to third-party payers, including private insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other government payers, following specific billing requirements and guidelines. Working with providers to ensure proper submissions for payment. Claims will be submitted within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Denial and Appeals Management: Timely investigate claim denials, identify root causes, and initiate appeals processes to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. Work Aging Report.
  • Reporting: Provide Employer with reports of reimbursements, outstanding collections, and any payor issues of payor payments. Reports should be submitted via email monthly or anytime this info is requested for special cases.
  • Patient Billing Liaison: Return all incoming patient billing calls, Patient-Provider Elation messages, and pertinent office emails and texts within 24 hours of receipt. This includes responses to office staff questions.
  • Supervision of Billing Staff: Lead biller will supervise the work of Billing Assistant and office staff helping with collections. Ongoing training of the Billing Assistant and office staff as necessary to ensure proper reimbursements.
  • Coding Audits: Conduct regular coding audits to evaluate coding accuracy, documentation integrity, compliance with coding guidelines, and identify areas for improvement in coding practices and revenue capture.
  • Revenue Cycle Optimization: Collaborate with revenue cycle management teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, streamline workflows, reduce coding errors, and optimize revenue generation and collection.
  • Coding Compliance: Stay updated with coding updates, regulations, and compliance requirements such as HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Education and Training: Provide coding and billing education, training, and support to healthcare providers, and staff, to ensure understanding and compliance with coding and billing best practices.

Requirements:

  • Experience in medical billing and coding
  • Team player mentality and skilled multi-tasker
  • Fast learner with capabilities of educating patients of insurance nuances
  • Experience with EMR
  • Experience in billing integrative medicine such as IV's, acupuncture, etc is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 32 per week
