Job Description

Misfits is jumping headfirst into game development as the company reaches new heights of interactive entertainment!

As a Game Designer, you will design and build games on one of the new superstar teams at Misfits. We have multiple talented and motivated teams designing Minecraft and Roblox experiences who would benefit from applying game design techniques to their creations. This role will span multiple design disciplines, including content, progression, and level design. With multiple games already in production, we are setting sights far beyond these platforms and looking forward to expanding our teams with a Game Designer to help us generate fun for years to come.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement game mechanics, systems, and features
• Write clear and concise Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Confluence, etc. documents that are persuasive and easy to understand
• Work closely with artists, programmers, and other designers to ensure that design elements and features are implemented at quality
• Balance and adjust gameplay experiences and features to ensure the critical and commercial success of the product
• Iterate on designs based on internal/external playtests, game metrics, team input and community feedback
• Assist with quality assurance testing, identifying bugs, and troubleshooting design issues
• Actively participate in design and development meetings, providing constructive feedback and suggestions
• Continuously learn and seek guidance on the design craft
• Stay up on trends in the gaming industry, in particular UGC game platforms, to influence our design philosophy and approach
• Other Duties as Assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a Game Designer
• Experience with the Roblox and/or Minecraft dev environments and markets
• Experience with live game operations
• At least one shipped video game title or equivalent
• Excellent problem-solving ability
• Solid team communication skills
• Passion for playing and creating cutting edge video games

This is currently a full-time remote position. Must be able to relocate to either Seattle, WA, or Boca Raton, FL, in Q4 2024.
