Field Support Technician (FST)
Low voltage transit installation project (WMATA)
Oversee and assist with the removal of old electronic components and cabling, installing new components and cabling, terminating low voltage electrical wiring to 12 and 24 volt power sources on vehicles. Will need to have experience with mounting equipment/components, running cables and wiring, stripping and preparing wiring, crimping electrical terminals onto wiring, terminating wires to electrical sources such as breakers, terminal blocks, grounding lugs, etc. FST will need to have previous electronics/electromechanical /construction /trades experience.
Job duties will include but not limited to:
Oversee installation from a technical standpoint
Material provision
Maintain inventory
Troubleshoot and repair (Hardware/Software)
Ensuring system powers up correctly
Must be able to work 50 hour weeks
Work Schedule:
There are 2 parts to this project, Rail and Bus. The bus part will be the day shift and the rail part will be the night shift.
Skills required:
At least 2 years as a lead or supervisor over a low voltage installation project
3-5 years experience installing and/or servicing low voltage equipment
Experience with electronic components
Experience with electrical connectors and terminations
Experience with hand and power tools
Experience running cables or wiring
Ability to work standing, bending, or crouching for long periods of time
Must have a 2 year electronics degree or equivalent military experience
Must commit to entire length of project
Self-Starter
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 1st Shift 7am-4 or 5pm and night shift TBD at a later date (Weekend work is possible)
Project will last 18 months. However, if you are good with out of state travel, there will be work for 5 years.
Please note that random drug and alcohol screening will be conducted
Must have a valid DL and reliable transportation
