Escalade Sports is Hiring a Payroll and Sales Tax Accountant Near Evansville, IN

Position Title: Payroll and Sales Tax Accountant
Reporting To: Accounting Manager
Location: Evansville, IN
Status: Exempt

Job Purpose: Accurately process payroll and all related functions. Manage sales tax exemptions in sales tax software.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities – Payroll

Help with all payroll processing duties including input, verification, and analysis
Maintain time off data ensuring accurate balances
Answer payroll related questions from supervisors and employees in regard to hours, vacation balances, sick time, etc
Process and maintain garnishments records
Troubleshoot payroll software issues
Register with state revenue and unemployment agencies
Generate reports for the general ledger and perform reconciliations
Create month end journal entries
Help with 401k plan administration and deductions

Essential Duties/Responsibilities – Sales Tax

Add sales tax exemptions into the sales tax software
Run reports and perform detailed analysis
Research and maintain spreadsheets for sales tax write offs and adjustments
Work with accounting firm to ensure timely and accurate sales tax return filings for all 50 states
Troubleshoot sales tax software issues, creating cases, and helping to figure out technical and administrative glitches

Qualifications & Requirements

Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related business field
Knowledge of AS400 and MS Office software, preferred
3 years of previous related experience, preferred
Attention to detail, organized, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Stooping and kneeling
Fine motor coordination
