Job brief

Bengelina Hospitality is looking for a full-time Server to deliver exceptional dining experiences at our restaurant inspired by the French and Italian Rivieras. Our "Cuisine of the Sun" features rustic, simply prepared dishes that are rich in flavor. Servers will guide guests through our extensive menu that includes classical cocktails and a significant selection of aperitifs, amari, aromatized wines, and anisettes, as well as our thoughtfully curated wine by the glass list.

The Server’s main responsibility includes upholding high standards of ambience, customer service, and food/beverage knowledge and presentation, while contributing to the restaurant’s profitability.

This position’s compensation includes a base pay of $6.15 salary tip pool. Depending on the day, on average, base tips can range from $28-$38/per hour. After 60 days of full-time employment this role is eligible for health care, which Bengelina Hospitality will subsidize half of the expense. Other benefits include a daily family meal before service, a generous discount at our other restaurants, and discount at our retail locations.

Job responsibilities (including but not limited to tasks listed below)

● Provide a warm welcome to guests upon their arrival and guide them through our dining and beverage menus.

● Educate patrons about menu items, answer questions regarding ingredients and preparation methods, and suggest beverage pairings. Make recommendations based on guest preferences.

● Take detailed orders, ensuring all preferences, dietary requirements, celebrations, and relevant extenuating circumstances are noted and communicated to the kitchen and management staff.

● Serve food and drinks with an emphasis on presentation and maintaining excellent standards of service.

● Handle payment transactions efficiently.

● Maintaining a clean and organized restaurant and dining area. Ensuring all service items are well-stocked and presented neatly.

● Monitor and report any issues with dining equipment, furnishings, or restaurant supplies to management.

● Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a thorough understanding of sanitation practices.

● Collect feedback from guests to enhance future dining experiences and communicate to management.

● Participate in opening and/or closing procedures adhering to operational checklists.

● Assist and take ownership of general upkeep of the restaurant to ensure a pleasant environment for guests and fellow employees.

● Work collaboratively with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless service to create and positively participate in a cohesive team environment.

Job Requirements

● Previous work experience as a Barista, Server, or Bartender.

● Some familiarity with dining room equipment and point-of-sale systems.

● Knowledge of hygiene and safety regulations pertaining to food and beverage service.

● Basic math skills.

● Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of customers.

● Excellent communication skills.

● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an approachable, professional, and warm composure.

● Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, and some holidays to accommodate the restaurant’s operating hours.

● High school diploma: relevant training is a plus, but not required.
