ESC of Central Ohio is Hiring a State Support Team Educational Consultant - Early Literacy Specialist Near Columbus, OH

The SST will employ the early literacy specialist(s) for this work. The SST must hire at least 1 full-time staff person for the work. The following are the minimum qualifications of the personnel:

Description:
The early literacy specialists will provide and support technical assistance, literacy networking opportunities and early literacy information and resources to teachers, education leaders and community members for the purpose of positively impacting the literacy outcomes of children in preschool through grade five. In addition, the early literacy specialist will provide supports beyond grade 5 as related to Ohio’s Dyslexia Support Laws. This work will be integrated into the application of leadership structures and the Ohio Improvement Process as implemented by districts with the support of the State Support Teams.
Finally, the early literacy specialists provide support and guidance for literacy systems and instruction regionally and statewide through their role in the State Literacy Network and their region’s support team for literacy.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. A master’s degree in reading or literacy education, or master’s degree in a related area with either reading or literacy endorsements on state license
2. Expertise in how to improve student learning through the implementation of high-quality
evidenced-based reading/literacy strategies
3. Completion of a professional development program accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (accreditation or accreditation plus level)
4. Three to five years of successful classroom teaching that includes reading/literacy
instruction in grades preschool-grade 5
5. Experience as a provider of professional development and technical assistance specific to evidence-based language and literacy development
6. Evidence of previous development of professional development materials specific to
language and literacy development
7. Experience with coaching and consulting skills
8. Knowledge of how to analyze and use student data and adult implementation data
9. Experience working with administrators
10. Experience facilitating or participating in the Ohio Improvement Process
11. Valid Driver’s license
12. Complies with drug free workplace rules and board policies
13. Documentation of clear criminal record

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with culturally responsive practices
2. Experience facilitating and interpreting screening measures for identifying students at-risk for reading failure
3. Experience providing and coaching structured literacy instruction
4. Experience designing and implementing district-wide or school-wide multi-tiered system of supports
5. Experience providing instruction to individuals with dyslexia or individuals with risk factors for dyslexia preferred
6. Experience coaching and providing consultation to adult learners
7. Administrative license
8. At least 5 years successful classroom teaching, working with school personnel to improve literacy instruction

3. Regional Literacy Professional Development and Technical Assistance
a. Preschool

4. Supporting Implementation of Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement
5. Participate in Ohio’s State Literacy Network and Regional Professional Learning
Series for Literacy.
6. Participate in professional learning to deepen content knowledge and further
strengthen skills.
7. Complete the following foundational trainings by the end of year 3 of onboarding.
a. Emergent Literacy Series
b. All Students Can. Read Series
c. Reading Tiered Fidelity Inventory and Coaching Service Delivery Plans
d. Ohio Improvement Process
8. Provide regional literacy support.
9. Communicate with SST Director and SST Colleagues.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience and in accordance with specified salary schedule
